To want to be able to have a day time nap on the sofa rather than have to go to bed?

I am, I know I am but DH always seems to work from home on my work days . I work from home and until lunch time, then I have a couple of hours until I pick up the DC. DS is a nocturnal BF 7 month old so I usually grab an hour's kip plus do domestic stuff.

I LOATHE being in bed in the day and would much rather just put my head down on the sofa. BUT DH chooses to work from the sofa and so I spend my 'free time' feeling like I'm in his office and that I can't have the TV on while I do jobs / sleep etc etc and have to go to bed for an hour which always depresses me and makes me feel more groggy. I can't do without the kip though.

I know i don't have a monopoly on our house, it just seems that his timing is SO spot on!

And I know I'm lucky to be able to have a snooze at all - I'm just wingeing!

I think it sounds like DH needs an office. Since he physically can't do night-time feeds for DS then he should try to accommodate your nap.

Oh i know what you mean about going to bed in the daytime, i used to love my afternoon nap on the sofa when i was on ML/WFH

Cant he sit in a chair? so you can have sofa? tell him you going to start expressing so he can do the night feds, that might scare him into moving off your sofa, or working from the office

YANBU!!! I hate sleeping in bed during the day as well. I wake up so groggy and out of it when I take kips in our bed. Something about the settee lets me know that it's just a small day-sleep.

He really should try to help you out and be thankful you're not making him get up in the middle of the night to feed ds. Maybe ask him to work in the kitchen/dining room? Besides, wouldn't that give him a work-top to write on?

I can see both sides.

I absolutely hate it when dh has a nap on the sofa when I'm in the house as I feel that I have to tip-toe around him.

However, I love having a quick half hour on the sofa at weekends if dd is playing happily.

I can see both sides a bit. But is there anywhere else that DH can work at home? Does he need to work at home, or choose to work at home because of some perceived benefits?

You obviously need to get your sleep where you can, and in our house, sleep trumps most things. So, if your DH genuinely doesn't need to work at home (or could work at home in a more convenient spot), perhaps the thing to do is not to tiptoe around him in the living room, so that what doesn't work for you, doesn't work for him either?

Of course, that's totally passive agressive, so alternatively you could talk to him about it .

I think it's because I was meant to have a week at the end of maternity leave when the kids were in nursery to have 3 days for myself and for one reason or another (including DH), I never got them. That was a month ago and I've been trying to claw some 'me' time since and I just can't seem to get it.

I can't get on as normal when DH is working from home but that is my problem not his. He wouldn't stop me napping though. Why can't your DH work in the bedroom and let you be as you normally are.

Well he could work in my work room which is more than adequate but he has the attitude that he should be able to work where he wants in his house etc - which is fair. IABU I know, I just wish I could have the place to myself and some PEACE - I have 2 under 2...

But him doing what he wants is causing you to lose sleep. You don't what you want to do is causing him to sit somewhere else....

Ever since I have known him, DH has liked his lunchtime naps.

When we had DCs, I was presented with: a sleeping baby upstairs, so can't do anything upstairs. PLUS: sleeping husband downstairs which means I can't do anyting that makes a noise downstairs.

It would have been fine if both had had their sleeps on the same bloody floor...

• must point out that I can't sleep during the day and no matter how many times I have been up BF a baby in the night, no naps for me, so that definitely clouds my judgement.
