Received Birthday card today and it says Ms Hobbgoblin.

She knows I still use Mrs because it makes me seem more growed up! lol

I've started using Ms as I'm 33 and Miss seems a bit 'aye right - who's she trying to kid?'

Do you still use your married name? If you do, YANBU, if not YABU.

At least she gets your name right. My MIL still sends me cards addressed to Miss Maiden Name! Do you think she wishes I hadn't married her son? She may as well give up on that one, we've been married 18 years!

My inlaws send cards addressed to Mrs (DH's name). I'd LOVE a Ms, by comparison. I'm just DH with an extra consonant!

My family insist on getting my name wrong and sending items addressed to Mrs Married Surname when my name is actually Ms Maiden Name. It leads to all sorts of problems when I have to pick things up from the sorting office but will they listen? I've tried to remedy the situation by covering every piece of mail I sent with stickers bearing my correct name but to no avail.

Happy Birthday btw!

Qally - I HATE that, though only my grandparents do that and they are in their nineties so are forgiven anything.

YANBU if you've made it clear what you want to be called. I use both interchangably.

SalmonFromTheLiffey · 20/02/2009 20:56

YABU!

I hate the hate for Ms.

It makes people infer all sorts about me when I use it.

It is the right box for me to tick now, and if you're divorced, then why not use it?

Habbibu · 20/02/2009 20:57

I don't understand why family feel the need for formal address at all - why not just Hobb Goblin?

fledtoscotland · 20/02/2009 21:50

yanbu but then my family cant even spell my married surname right and i've been with DH 13 yrs
