to not want to be contacted by ex boyfriend from 25 years ago

I am really spooked by this. I think I was phoned today by an ex boyfriend from school. He didn't say his name but said he was a face from my past. He used my married name and although not malicious wouldn't say his name. I said "I prefer to leave the past in the past" and said I don't recognise your voice, thank you, bye" This afternoon I have discovered it is very easy to trace me from my maiden name on 192.com and presumably he knows where I live now. I have previously closed my facebook accounts, friends reunited etc as I had emails from made up accounts wanting to know if I was x from y. I don't mind someone trying to catch up but isn't it a bit strange to not say who you are? Yes I am changing my usernames all over!

i would be spooked too, sounds wierd

ComeWhineWithMe · 18/02/2009 17:16

Sounds very odd TBH . I wouldn't be so bothered if he had rung up and said hi and explained who he was but he does sound a bit strange .

yanbu

you were firm but polite, no need to think that any more will come of it

[reassuring pat on shoulder]

ChampagneDahling · 18/02/2009 17:18

I agree, I should keep your distance from that one tbh.

Timeisablindguide · 18/02/2009 17:23

agree - YANBU. I would have done the same and don't have any facebook sites etc as I have no intention of revisiting the past!

I just looked up the 192.com and it's scary to see how much info is on there. It would spook me out.

I agree that not much more should come of it as he got no response from you.

Just hang up if he tries again.

solidgoldbullet4myvalentine · 18/02/2009 17:28

Do you have a particular individual in mind that you think it is? Because it could be any old loon, really. IF the person calls again, just say you are not interested and hang up (then 1471 the number and note it down, just in case whoever it is doesn't go away and needs to be formally told to piss off).

I quite like hearing from old pals myself, but can think of one or two exceptions who I really don't ever want to speak to or see again...

Thanks everyone. I have now got caller ID & ex directory so that should help. I think 192.com is scary. I know records of births, deaths, marriages have to be in the public domain but it seems so easy to obtain a huge amount of info on an individual with internet access and a credit card. I have a very distinctive christian name and maiden name so that is why it is easier than most to track me down. I was relieved to get a fairly bog standard married surname.
