to sit here with a sleeping baby for just a little bit longer?

She is 11 months old, and just fell asleep during her bedtime breastfeed.

The dinner dishes are on the table still, one dog is outside in the rain, scratching to get in, the other dog is hanging around looking hungry, I have an urgent deadline, and little Ff's sacrosanct bedtime was fifteen minutes ago.

But she is all pink and squishy, her lovely red hair is poking out of her fluffy dressing gown hood, and she never falls asleep while feeding anymore. In fact, since she realised she can get around bwithout being carried, I struggle to get her to stay still for a cuddle.

So, AIBU? Even if I am, I don't care. I'm staying where I am for a bit longer.

Bedtime - well she's asleep, isn't she?
I agree, holding a sleeping child is lovely

mylifemykids · 11/02/2009 19:19

YANBU! They're only little for a short time (as my mother told me but I didn't believe her until I had my own lol). Make the most of it

llynnnn · 11/02/2009 19:22

stay where u are and enjoy it!
yanbu!

Twims · 11/02/2009 19:23

Enjoy it

keepingitRia · 11/02/2009 19:25

No way BU!!!

dishes hardly ever get done til gone 9pm in my house some days the only time my boys are good is when they're asleep

mine are currently all being really cute watching old Postman Pat (even DS1 who is nearly 12) bedtime can wait a little longer (so the dishes will get done even later tonight cos the little 2 need a snuggle once they're asleep - I can't get into DS1s high-sleeper or he would get one too, not that he'd be impressed)

I love watching my two sleep and they are now 12 and 8. stay put and enjoy....

YouLukaConfused · 11/02/2009 19:38

Stay there and enjoy! I'm doing the same

poppy34 · 11/02/2009 19:39

no - its just bliss when they're like this

silverfrog · 11/02/2009 19:40

Definitely not BU.

I have 2 girls - both very good sleepers, and both very good at settling.

But what I don't get is sleepy cuddles

I am so chuffed whenever they fall aslepp on me now - normally the only time is on aeroplanes, though

oldraver · 11/02/2009 19:40

YANBU.... one of the reasons I usually go to bed at 8pm.. ds falls asleep b/f and we saty snuggled for oooooh quite a while. Enjoy

JoyS · 11/02/2009 19:41

Oh how lovely. What a lucky girl to have a mother who would rather spend time with her than anywhere else.

poppy34 · 11/02/2009 19:43

don't say that sliverfrog.. was hoping dd would be like this for ages (although know it won't be that way)...

NorktasticNinja · 11/02/2009 19:43

Awwww. You've brought a tear to my hormonal eye

Stay where you are for as long as you can, you lucky lucky mummy.

scifinerd · 11/02/2009 19:46

One of the greatest pleasures of being a mum. I sometimes sneak into my dcs' bed for a cuddle while they are asleep.

diedandgonetodevon · 11/02/2009 19:50

This is just the bestest bit about being a mummy. All that lovely, snuggly stuff. Enjoy it!

FfreckleFface · 11/02/2009 20:04

I've put her to bed now. I am usually particularly unsentimental, and not given to gushing of any kind, but she is the most beautiful thing in the world and I love her so much.

Right, normal service resumed now. Clearing up to do, dogs to feed, and a pile of veg to turn into soup for tomorrow.
