I took both DDs 7 and 5 into my office this morning, they ran in circles making a huge racket and the youngest asked constantly when we were going to get sweets (the bribe I was using), our office is very very quiet normally people rarely even speak, so as my stress levels were rising I lost it and dragged them both out the office and shut them in the car so as I could finish the work (10 more mins) .... I know. I am now totally embarassed (I have only just started the job) what must they think? What do I do?!!

What do you do - DON'T TAKE YOUR CHILDREN TO THE OFFICE ANYMORE!!!

HecateQueenOfGhosts · 10/02/2009 11:15

erm, I think you were a bit.

Tbh, I think your colleagues were probably more pissed off that you brought your kids in than that you put them in the car they may even have been a bit relieved

What do you do? Well, I am assuming there was some reason you had to bring the kids with you? Childcare probs? You need to sort out an emergency backup.

IdrisTheDragon · 10/02/2009 11:15

Why aren't they at school?

aGalChangedHerName · 10/02/2009 11:15

Why did you take them into your office??

HecateQueenOfGhosts · 10/02/2009 11:16

yeah, what bella said, but a bit more tactfully

hi bella. You're a grump today

FAQinglovely · 10/02/2009 11:16

perhaps the schools are closed? I've got my dS's at home today because their schools are shut.

Othersideofthechannel · 10/02/2009 11:17

No spare computers in your office then?

bellavita · 10/02/2009 11:18
  • have just been speaking to my mother - enough to put anyone in a grump!

Sorry OP - didn't mean to shout (Iam nice really)

Gorionine · 10/02/2009 11:18

Or take toys or coloring book to keep them busy, maybe.
I would not let them in the car on their own,,even for 10 mn, although I am pretty sure my own parents used to do it with me and it did not leave me traumatised but somehow I just wouldn't!

littlepixieonthetree · 10/02/2009 11:19

its half term break here. I had planned on going in an hour earlier and getting out of there before anyone came in ....

and I am supposed to be watching my weight - but have just necked down two milky ways whilst wiping the kitchen down and I am mad with myself.

Pawslikepaddington · 10/02/2009 11:20

I used to be left in the car all the time and loved it! Don't worry-it has already happened-you can't go back, and they are fine-just be glad you have left the office

HecateQueenOfGhosts · 10/02/2009 11:23

mmmmm, milky way.

I have had a fecking slimfast shake today, am clockwatching until lunchbar time.

If the postman comes today, I may eat him.

morningpaper · 10/02/2009 11:24

Don't worry about it - in the seventies DH and his brother had to spend ALL SATURDAY in the car while his father spent the day in the pub

They are not scarred for life - apparently he would bring them lemonads once an hour

MillyR · 10/02/2009 11:24

I agree with PLP. It was a stressful situation but it is over! Don't worry.

littlepixieonthetree · 10/02/2009 11:38

thank you every one, I just am so angry with myself for the way I handled the whole situation - don't seem to be able to take a step back when the youngest one is winding me up. Am just really embarassed what they must think of me. Should I mention it in a lighthearted way along the lines of 'sorry about bringing my children into the office the other day, little monsters' or best to just keep quiet?

OP posts:
MillyR · 10/02/2009 11:41

Mention it in a lighthearted way, and say it will not happen again. It may be that the others were not really bothered anyway, but if you have said something to them it will stop you dwelling on it and worrying about what they think.

mayorquimby · 10/02/2009 13:03

oh god no i'd commend you for putting them in the car, but then again people bringing their kids into the office is something that really gets my goat.
