To begrudge putting £5 a day in my gas meter?

So we either sit here freezing or I allow my gas meter to eat £5 a day.

I really begrudge having to pay so much just to keep warm

You seem a little cross today!

i would begrudge £5 too.

Ewe · 09/02/2009 12:45

Why don't you change to a normal meter?

I've go no heating on at the moment. 2 jumpers and keep moving!

Why does it cost £5 a day to heat your home? £150 a month?

Okay sweet.. your using what we were using on a combi boiler.. ( we rent.. we have a pre pay meter in the house).

I was astounded that it would cost £150 a month to heat too.. spoke to a friend who uses gas meter pay thing for years.. she said the trick is to keep your heat on constant.. so that you are not reheating the rads all the time from cold.. as you would if using a timer.. so keep the rads warm..

I oviously looked at her like I didn't believe her LOL.. she said just try it and see the difference.

SO I did.. put therostat on at 18/19.. on constant!!.. and now use £ 2.40 a day!

might be worth you giving it a go.

Tis true- combi boilers use most gas when cycling (ie firing up). Also meters are pig expensive- much cheaper to pay quarterly if you can get them to change the meter. You may be living in a rented house though and have no choice in that...
