Here the scene:
Friday morning

me, a student on Placement, going to placement

snowing heavily all through morning

head of department (small department, lovely woman, and all that) can't get picked up by her dh

me offering (as local) she could, if she can't get back home, stay at mine....

Spoke to a german friend in germany, (I am german living in england for the past umptiest years) and that friend mentioned they would never think of doing that, calling me weird...

Was I...weird, I mean...well, I know she could probably afford a hotel, etc...but surely why would you not offer...we get on fine...but am wondering now, iykwim...
I suppose on a proffessional level it might be an odd thing to do, I don't know
(I am studying to be an Occupational Therapist and this is a small department/clinic)

yanbu you are were being kind. I'm sure the offer was apreciated.

ChasingSquirrels · 07/02/2009 23:45

not wierd at all.

FairLadyRandySlut · 07/02/2009 23:48

thanks...I started to wonder if that is be me being englishfyed....I mean, I go now to germany and germans often irritate me, because of the uptightness...and well, over here, people seem (dispite all this talk of stiff upper lip) so much more firendly, open, helpful, etc...

You shouldn't even need to ask - mind you, nice people are a dying breed!!

It was a lovely thing to do, so much nicer for her than having to find a vacant, soleless hotel room for the night!
