to ask my neighbour not to bang their gate?

Its a wrought iron gate attached to a wrought iron fence. We are attached to their house. They SLAM it every time they go in or out of the house BANG BANG BANG - it really makes a loud BOOM in our house and if the baby is in bed, it wakes him up! Its driving me potty, esp since he leaves at 6.30am to go to work and wakes both me and BabyG up

I told hte Mrs today that it wakes him up and asked if they could please make an effort not to bang it. She looked at me as if I'd just asked her to sniff my a-hole ffs and said they'd try to remember

Is it too much to ask? Is it really?

Loosen the hinges

Next time he bangs it, it will fall off and he will think he has broken it

Then he will put it back and close it more carefully next time

Not too much to ask. You have a thousand opportunities to start a real neighbour war here, don't miss your chance. If they don't stop banging the gate you have to plant a leilandii and park across their driveway. Them's the rules.

Lol at vinegar

and rules were meant to be obeyed!
Seriously though, you've asked the neighbour and they might be more considerate now. Wait and see, and keep your fingers crossed - and your screwdriver handy!

Or, loosen the hinges and put an ad somewhere, free scrap metal.

screwdriver? To stab in their eye?

I'm with vinegartits. Just loosen the hinges, a little every day, and they will think it just fell off. Problem solved.
