To expect delivery firm to phone if they're not coming?

Was meant to have a laptop delivered today, "between 7 am and 1pm", so have waited in all frigging day when we could have been over the park in the snow. Still no laptop tonight. I know the weather has probably delayed things a bit, (according to my tracking thingy, my order was despatched yesterday), but couldn't they just phone to say it'll be with you tomorrow??!! What a wasted day. Grr.

YANBU - they're idiots!! Delivery companies take people's time for granted. Who has time to sit in all day for no reason? I'd complain to head office and claim expenses for loss of earnings. They may be mad kind enough to pay up

oh gawd, I'm waiting for a pc to arrive tomrrow, estimated ta is 9am - 6pm - it's bound to come during the school run

costagirl · 03/02/2009 20:29

Well I might try to claim something, but I doubt they'll pay up. I'm not bothered that the blardy thing isn't here, just irritated that we spent a whole day inside, in this gorgeous weather!!

YANBU at all - this type of thing drives me up the wall. I bet they've got home and moile numbers and an e-mail address for you too.

Minxie1977 · 03/02/2009 20:31

Exactly - there's always something better to do than sit in like a lemon waiting for something that isn't coming, especially when they could've spent 2 seconds giving you a quick call!!!!!!!!! Can you tell I've been blighted by delivery men

compo · 03/02/2009 20:32

are you in a snowy area though?
a lot of people have just thought, sod it, let's not bother going into work, so if the people on the phones didn't bother then you're scewed

MrsGrahamBell · 03/02/2009 20:43

CG - completely sympathise - it is one of the things that send me into orbit - WHY can they not ring?????My car is supposed to be collected tomorrow for an MOT - schdueld a load of other things around it, but I know it probably won't happen and 'the snow' will be blamed, like everything stops dead and we are all civil servants who can sit around with the taxpayer picking up the tab...

costagirl · 03/02/2009 20:46

We're not totally snowed in here (DS school open today), but I suppose there MIGHT not have been anyone in massive logistics firm office who could have phoned!! I bet it comes during the school run in the morning.
