I really don't think I am. Eating corned beef IS like eating cat food.

It's disgusting stuff and I really don't know how people can do it.

So there.

pardon the stupidity, but what is a chitterling?

naswm · 28/01/2009 23:05

Isnt Chitterling a place in Hampshite dID?

NormaJeanBaker · 28/01/2009 23:05

Well I'm not entirely sure but it looked like a plait of intestines and is some kind of offal. I was gorgeous whatever it was.

Ronaldinhio · 28/01/2009 23:07

chitterling

the languauge of small children, non?

differentID · 28/01/2009 23:07

ew, norma. Vile.

NormaJeanBaker · 28/01/2009 23:09

I know - my Nan was always going on about them. I must have inherited a taste for things you can scrape up during rationing.

differentID · 28/01/2009 23:10

I don't think they meant literally scraping

NormaJeanBaker · 28/01/2009 23:11

You didn't know my Nan.

differentID · 28/01/2009 23:12

True.

Heated · 28/01/2009 23:13

Had sliced corned beef on crusty bread today - yum.

Loathe pork pies though, the jelly bit is bleurgh

BlackLetterDay · 28/01/2009 23:13

You are deffo BU, corned beef hash/pie/pasties the food of the gods. To me steak pies resemble dog food and I can't eat them so I suppose it's swings and roundabouts.

NormaJeanBaker · 28/01/2009 23:14

Try eating them when you get off the swings and roundabouts - you'll be less queasy.

Tanee58 · 28/01/2009 23:33

My mum's recipe for hash: corned beef cubed, diced onion, diced potato, curry powder to taste, worcs sauce and tomato puree. The potato cuts the saltiness of the corned beef. Believe me, it's really tasty! Good as a filling for savoury pancakes. Truly!

I use to love Spam fritters in school in the 60s/70s. Tried it a few years ago - eugh!! That was one nostalgic memory well and truly exploded!

hatwoman · 29/01/2009 00:11

why is it called "corned"?

I have a love-hate relationship with it. I actually really like it but at the back of my mind is this kind of knowledge that it is, in fact, really grim. a bit like beef flavoured monster munch.

BlackLetterDay · 29/01/2009 01:19

Erm ok norma, that made little sense.
