to be so sensitive about nursery comments

I'm off to bloody London today. It's an hour and a half away from where I live but I've got a supervisory meetting on my phd that I can't get out of.

Dh works an hour away and dropped ds1 off at school. I dropped ds2 off a bit earlier at nursery and mentioned that I was in London.

Keyworker who is room manager was not happy and asked if dad was in town. I said no but that I had arranged my meeting at Waterloo so I could get back easily and I had a friend who was my emergency contact for nursery and she was around. She just humphed and that was it

I'm sitting on the train going to a meeting I don't want to attend and feeling like crap. I never go out of town and I'm really nervous about this meeting. Was there any need for that or AIBU?

But she wasnt unhappy about you going to London. From your post seems that YOU were unhappy about it.

Why over-analysing something like this? You have a friend as back up. Great. Then enjoy the day in London. Buy a cappuccino and a magazine to read in the train and get over it.

Thanks. I'm quite happy to agree I over-analyse things - hence the post!! It did make me feel like a neglectful mum daring to leave town for the day when I was merely being polite by telling her I was contactable on my mobile.

I'm sure I went OTT but what mum doesn't about thesr things sometimes.

The fact is that I did not expect her to ask whether my husband was nearby or what the other arrangements were. I didn't expect to be quizzed!

That is not just 'reading' things into what people are saying.Most posters agree that this is not what their nurseries do.

I love this nursery but I live in suburbia and I'm sure it seemed like an unusual thing to do so that is probably what threw her!
