I was in sainsbury's tonight and got some raisins for the DC. Noticed that there were a few different "flavoured" raisins and was . why do you need to do anything to artificially enhance a raisin. what utter nonsense.

what next I ask you? beef flavoured chicken? ham flavoured lamb? orange flavoured apples?

So they dry grapes and give it lemon flavour - goodness next thing you know they will be squeezing the grapes and adding sugar to it then sticking it in a bottle

wasabipeanut · 27/01/2009 21:31

Er no, YANBU.

Quite surprised actually - we've managed to live with raisin flavoured raisins till now....

LackaDAISYcal · 27/01/2009 21:32

I know.....mad isn't it?

Actually i picked up a packet of cherry flavoured raisins in Tesco a few months ago, gave some to DD , which she wouldn't eat,I tried some and they tasted really rank. I think they are full of sweeteners. YANBU

Well your being a little rasinist - if a rasin wants and needs to get dressed in lemon or cherry - then we should let it It will help in the long run Much better though if the rasin chooses to squash itself and erment with suger though - try to encourage this in your rasins.

LackaDAISYcal · 27/01/2009 22:00

pmsl at raisinist. As I normally buy a big bag of sultanas, I guess I'm guilty as charged

I nearly bought some just to see what they tasted like; especially the lemon flavour.

I buy big bags too - much more economical! Plus ds loves sitting there with a little pot of them and a spoon

gagamama · 28/01/2009 11:03

YANBU, I recently noticed that my favourite cereal bar contained 'rasberry flavoured dates' instead of actual rasberry. I was a bit .

I eat actual fruit and actual cereal now.

oldraver · 28/01/2009 15:34

I bought a packet of cherry ones (sold along side baby/toddler food) and loved them as I like most cherry 'flavoured' things. Did think tho why not just dried cherries, cost perhaps ??
