Over 3 months for a refund from Two Left Feet!!

Charsis · 24/01/2009 22:55

Anyone else had a hard time dealing with the company Two Left Feet?
I ordered a highchair from them in October which arrived no problem, however, it was faulty (wooden highchair, varnish peeling off) so wanted to exchange it. Two Left feet will not deal with after-sales over the phone. You MUST email them, and then they say they will respond within 3 days...
They did respond eventually and arranged to replace faulty chair, which they did no problem. However.... chair had same fault as first chair so had to email AGAIN. After long wait and then many emails back and forth (could have done it all in one 5 min phonecall) arranged for another replacemant but different brand as put off by faults. New chair supposed to arrive 11th December. Never did. Waited in all day. Tried to call Two Left Feet to see if chair coming, told to email. Emailed. No reply for a week. One word email:"Sorry". No date for new chair, no date for collection of faulty chair.
To cut a long story short: still have faulty chair here waiting for collection, no date for that. Emailed and asked for refund as dont want to deal with this company any longer, got email acknowleging request but nothing in bank yet.
Now over 3 months since original order was made and am so frustrated!!!

Did anyone read the communication emails. here

trixymalixy · 28/03/2009 15:55

yes, they seem to blaming Watchdog for their downfall!!!!!!!

I see that the significant level of credit card chargeback was a factor as well, as mastercard were going to start charging them penalties.

Sorrento · 28/03/2009 15:59

Also Interesting to see that the internet forums with their lies and exaggerations about poor little Dicky's shop were to blame too.
So we've had banks bail outs and we were going to bailing out that cnut too, beyond belief.

Lulumama · 28/03/2009 16:04

those emails etc were supposed to be private adn confidential and only for the recipient ,not to be published on the internet. bizarre

SerendipitousHarlot · 28/03/2009 16:19

4Real, I can't believe that out of all the posts here claiming disgustingly bad service... you're choosing to pick on Sorrento's because she may have been a competitor.

Whoever you are... the company are shit. Everyone knows it, and I hope that your friend/partner or whoever he is, is happy with diddling people out of thousands of pounds.

Nice bloke

PJPundit · 28/03/2009 20:13

Does any one know who the appointed administrator is ?? I am in a similar situation to many having placed on order valued at £748.01 on 15th Feb, which I cancelled on 18th Feb Under terms of distance selling regulations 2000 (They charged the wrong amount to me credit card it should have been £650.43).
My credit card company has asked for a copy of a letter from the administrator before proceeding further with a claim...

Just what we need with Twins due in May-June...

Lilyloo · 28/03/2009 20:22

4real the 'difficulties' you talk of have been running for years and he has swindled hundreds of people on here and 'their children' for all this time.
A crook and a thief.......

ScottishMummy · 28/03/2009 20:36

TLF are money extorting crooks,i had to threaten solicitor action to get refund

Sorrento · 28/03/2009 20:54

PJ - don't stand for that, the credit card company needs to refund you and then go after the administrators themselves, it's not your problem, you are protected.

squealia · 28/03/2009 23:28

Regardless of whos a competitor and not a competitor, what TLF have done accounts pretty much to theft as far as I'm concerned - oh sorry, I don't want to upset Mr Bone's children or insight bullying at school.
The simple fact is that Two Left Feet took 2 days worth of my hard earned wages and didn't send the goods. When they agreed to refund, they cleverly 'forgot' to put how they would be refunding me. Therefore HSBC Mastercard won't refund me because they claimed that I could have been refunded another way.
It is pathetic to blame big bag RBS and Watchdog. Two Left Feet took my money in July 2008 and agreed to refund in October 2008. The Watchdog programmed didn't happen until 5 months later.
Lets face it, Mr Bone and his mates will just declare themselves bankcrupt and start up a new business when the recession is over.
All I hope is that RBS has enough clout to sue Mr Bone's a**se for releasing confindential information about their lending policies.
Oh by the way, I'm not a competitor in case aanyone is wondering, I work for the NHS and the money they took is pretty damn serious to me and my young family. I spent everything I could to make sure that my child had the safest car seat possible.
Whoever you are Sorrento, I don't care, if you're in the industry please make sure that the directors of this company don't repeat history in a few years time.
It makes me appreciate how good the service from companies such as Jojo Maman Bebe are.

LackaDAISYcal · 28/03/2009 23:47

how utterly bizarre that they have linked to personal emails regarding this and the string of events that led to the administration. Almost as though they are refusing to accept that the responsibility for their downfall probably lies with their crappy business management.

I very nearly ordered stuff from them when I was pregnant with my DD, but saw a thread on here and went elsewhere instead. I feel really gutted for everyone they have shafted over the years, especially those who have bought stuff recently and may possibly never get their money back.

If this man is allowed to trade ever again it will be a very grave injustice.

bizarre.

squealia · 28/03/2009 23:55

By the way - a tube of smarties to the first one to post who the administrating company is. We'd better get our claim forms in boys and girls....

Sorrento · 29/03/2009 00:03

The way to stop these people getting away with it is to take the bounced cheques to the police, I am 100% sure it's a criminal offense to write a cheque you cannot honor.
I would also keep on at the credit card companies, they are responsible for reclaiming the transactions and they can be charged back from TLF's accounts, taking them over drawn or whatever.

I do have a vested interest in this case and make no bones about it (excuse pun) because I used to get crying men and women calling me from the maternity hospital needing car seats, Jane in particularly and it used to piss me off no end that people would fall for the reduced prices over and over again, if a deal looks to good to be true then it usually is.
Perfect example, the profit on your average pram is 20% so if you look at the RRP in Mothercare, John Lewis anybody selling at less than that is making their money some other way by either screwing manufactures down on price, so guess who get their goods first, the person paying full price or the one insisting on a 2% discount or holding on to money in accounts and making interest on your funds. Especially if they have overheads, staff, buildings etc.

risingstar · 29/03/2009 08:51

There is only one reason for their demise, bad customer service. I for one am very very grateful for internet forums which do enable us all to spread the word about good and bad service. He seems to be complaining that the internet is responsible for his crappy internet business not suceeding. I bet other companies like KiddiCare who are sucessful reap the benefit of their good customer service through word of mouth.

tlion · 29/03/2009 16:44

My husband & I drove from central London to look at furniture for my new born. We were drawn in by the showroom, it was incredible.
We opted for Stooke and to cut a long story short were £1000 out of pocket. We are fuming as we paid on maestro. Along with many other customers who paid by debit card are stuffed.

I read the statement on their website only to be stunned what i was reading, how bizzare, and an attempt to shift the blame to the banks and watchdog.

However being totally selfish if they got the funding that was offered, i may have had a better chance of receiving my goods.

£1000 is a lot of money, great debt for a new born baby

Rachel2796 · 29/03/2009 16:57

Two Left Feet are AWFUL! I had to claim back the money from the credit card company as I could not even get them to answer the phone when I tried to call them!
I would not recommend them to ANYONE!

onadietcokebreak · 29/03/2009 17:58

see what mothercare has on its website

price endeavour

I am still trying to find out who the administrators are.

onadietcokebreak · 29/03/2009 18:05

Tributeking · 30/03/2009 14:17

If I was a betting man, I would say that KPMG are either involved or are the administrators as they have been investigating the company.. Watch this space..

squealia · 30/03/2009 19:43

Ahhhh, thankyou tributeking. Now can you tell me how to get a refund out of HSBC mastercard - they are doing EVERYTHING to avoid paying. Have a feeling that I'm going to have to take them to the financial ombudsman.
Sorrento, thankyou for your advice. Its difficult to know when there are deals out there or if anything is shady.
Tlion, I'm so sorry that you lost 1000 quid, I don't know what I would do. It must be devastating - its hard enough when you have all the gear.
I have to say though that I've learnt my lesson.
If a company takes your money before they have an item in stock and dispatch them - they're dodgy and avoid them like the plague.

So now that we can guess who the administrators are, what do we do? Contact them directly?

SparklyGothKat · 30/03/2009 23:42

if you go to the store can you take items to the value of your order or is that rubbish?

alibubbles · 31/03/2009 07:55

This company has a history of money problems, as far back as 2001. It used to be two right feet a long time ago, and changed it's name to carry on trading.

paddingtonbear1 · 31/03/2009 09:47

link from the BBC watchdog

here

not much info yet though

DoozersMam · 02/04/2009 13:57

THE ADMINISTRATORS ARE...

KPMG
Arlington Business Park
Theale
Reading
RG7 4SD

Hi - Like endless others I'm waiting for a refund from Aug last year..and of course when they went into administration on Friday, was well peeved! The visa charge back facility for visa debit is only available within 6 months of purchase date (Halifax)so no joy there, althought the bank were very helpful.

THIS IS NOW ON THEIR WEBSITE..

Ian James Corfield and Jane Bronwen Moriarty were
appointed Joint Administrators to Two Right Feet
Limited on 31 March 2009.
A dedicated call centre has been set up:

0844 770 1305

which will be open between 9am and 6pm, from Wednesday
1 April 2009 to Tuesday 7 April 2009.

My parting thoughts: Two Right Feet Ltd. are thieving bar stewards with no thought for the untold stress it has caused pregnant women (with a significantly reduced income)!!!
