I had to go to Tribunal to get Disability Living Allowance for my son in December. This appeal has been going on since autumn 2007 and the DWP have been stalling and stalling and changing decisions to stall even further.

Anyway, I won the Tribunal and my son was put onto the high rate based on his needs, backdated to when I first began the appeal process. I waited 2 weeks, then rang the DWP just before Christmas to say hi, I won, can I have my backdated money now please?

Got told ring back.
Rang just after Christmas. Told no record of decision by Tribunal.

Rang every 3 or 4 days since then and every time someone says they'll email a certain department and someone will ring me. They don't.

Finally rang earlier in the week and spoke to the person in charge of my case who said she'd sort it and ring me on Weds to tell me how much they've calculated they owe me and to let me know that the payment's been sent.

Nothing

I'm sorry, but it's not like this is a favour or bloody rocket science. I won and now they owe me this money. We're getting on for 18 months now since they could have made the right decision but chose not to and now someone's made it for them, they can't be arsed to make it a priority. I am desperate for this money to pay off the credit card and pay back family for what I've had to borrow.

I know they're busy - every time I rang they made a point of it being their busiest time of year etc. etc. but surely if they've messed this up as badly as they have I should be a priority and they should just sort it?

Do keep checking your bank, the DLA tend to put the money in before letting you know its on it way, I spent all xmas broke one year not realising they had put money in just before christmas.

Good point, but I've stopped hoping - at one point, I was checking online every day.

£1800, they'll owe me - think of the interest I could have been earning...oh no, wait, I wouldn't any more, would I?!

Write to your local MP, something like DWP breaching the disability act and they're being very anti disability
