To be a little miffed with my sons nursery?

So before I start I have to say, i love my sons nursery (pre-school nursery). Lovely ladies there, lovely setting, and he has loads of fun as did DS2 when he went there.

However, before Christmas they advertised that they needed another assistant for 2 mornings a week. I seem to be the only one they ask to help and have done so frequently and often at very short notice (I'd rather saty and help than it close for the day due to staff shortages). So I thought I would aplly for the position seeing as I was helping quite a lot. I didn't get it and really have no hard feelings about it at all. I wanted them to choose the right person to care for my son, and they chose 2 lovely, lovely ladies....wonderful choices.

However, I am now being asked again to help next week.

I not angry miffed really, just a bit about it all. As I say, they are fabulous and the reason they didn't employ me was probably because my son is there (not that it would have been a problem..he does his own thing and is very independant)

So AIBU?

If they still need extra help shouldn't they offer you a third position?

Squirdle · 22/01/2009 19:40

They have started a voluntary parent rota this term and I have deliberately not put my name down as I feel I have helped a lot but obv they will be short staffed next week and have no-ones name down.

I have to admit to being slightly relieved I didn't get the job. It's not really what excites me and I do ahve another PT job which I love...I just figured that if I was going to be there I may as well be paid for it!

Why would they employ you when they can get you for free?
