To hate BT (very Long)

We moved house on the 9th of January.

BT was booked to put in a new phone line on the 6th (after a lot of palaver just booking the appointment just before Christmas).

I paid the £124.00 Installation fee on booking the appointment and agreed to a 12 month line rental with evening and weekend calls as I had to sign with BT to have the line put in, although I actually want to go to Sky for our phone and broadband.

The engineer called to do the work, to find that the builders had undone the support lines to the telegraph post so it was not safe and couldn?t be done.
OK I can accept that, another appointment was made for the 9th, with the post being made safe on the 8th.

The post wasn?t done, I wasn?t told and the 9th appointment was not kept, and no cancellation was notified.
I phoned them, and was told somebody would be with me on the 10th, I asked when was the post being fixed, and was assured that the post would be done.
The 10th came and went nothing being done. Phoned again, to be told my line would now be done on the 12th, again asked about the post.
I phoned on the 12th I was told my line was working! Told them it wasn?t, and was assured it was, they had checked the line, I asked them how the hell it could be working as I hadn?t got a physical line to the house!
BT then decided that it was now a fault and passed it to faults; they would be out on the 13th! I told them the post was still not safe! When was it being done?
Finally they came back to me and said the post wasn?t done as the Camp Security (live behind the wire on a Army Camp) hadn?t let them on Camp, (they hadn?t completed the paperwork properly although they have been reconnected the support wires to all the posts on the whole of our estate as they have all been undone while the refurbishing work has been done, including the post along the street, so knew what was to be done)
The post was going to now be done on the 27th of January and the line would be connected after that.
At which I lost my cool and asked to speak to a manager.
He promised that the line and post would be connected on the 16th, along with the other 14 houses along our street, all who moved in last week and were waiting.
Guess what no line.
I was then phoned by BT on a feedback on the work and was I satisfied with it!!!!!!!!
We have now been given the 22nd for the post to be done and the lines being put in sometime the next week (no actual date)
I am beginning to think we will not have a line this side of Christmas.
I am a CM, and need my phone, the mobiles only work in one part of the house, and this dongle is so slow, I only really get connection first thing in the morning!

I hate BT.

I know. I hate them too. They are unreliable and they don't communicate - with customers or between departments.

Which is funny when they're a telecommunications company.

You have to phone again and again and again and they NEVER do what they say they are going to, and every time you phone to chase them - when you FINALLY get to speak to a person!! - you have to go through the whole story again and they have no clue what's going on because there are "no notes". Always with the "no notes". And they promise you that THEY will deal with it and they are sorry that others haven't and you say thank you and you put the phone down and even as you do so, you know that you will be phoning back in a week and going through the whole thing again.

i HATE bt too. when we moved in to our house we tried to get a bt phone line. they kept making excuses as to why it wasnt done, at one point we had a phone call from the enjeneer to say they were doing it, then a phone call from another department to say the enjeneer hadnt revieved the order for our phone line...aghhhh
after 6 weeks of this they finally addmitted they wouldnt be able to connect us to bt as 'the house doesnt exsit'
we went with virgin insted, we phoned them late on friday and by monday morning we had a man in our house and by lunchtime we had a phone line!
i will NEVER use bt again!

I wish we could go with somebody else, but unfortatly only BT put the actual physical line in (or Openreach actually) so we have to go with them. We had to have a 12 month contract with them for the line, we have no choice.

We will go to Sky for everything else

We had HUGE trouble when we moved into our new house too. We did actually get someone who we spoke to several times who promised he was sorting it all out. Then suddenly one day this person no longer existed at BT. The department had never heard of him.

Much, MUCH phoning later we got a sympathetic manager who phoned to speak to the departments we'd been calling. She said that SHE had a problem getting anywhere with anyone so as an apology we got our phone line sorted for free and £60 off our next bill.

Keep at 'em.
