To be horrified at an 18mth old drinking actimel?

Was at playgroup the other day and one of the LOs sat down for her snack to be given some fruit, a biscuit and an Actimel as her drink.

Am I missing something cos I can't think of one single reason why a perfectly healthy 18mth old should be having one of these?

So, AIBU?

21 jobs were lost, on top of 20 more in the HBOS/Lloys merger and still more when the HMRC closed the local office.

a real blow in a rural area.

onepieceofbrusselssprout · 17/01/2009 22:45

It's not so bad where we live I guess (largish city). However as Moondog mentioned in more rural towns and some of the holiday resort towns we have visited Woolies was kind of central to the town.

Ours looked like the locusts had descended.

onepieceofbrusselssprout · 17/01/2009 22:46

I drove through a local town yesterday (while on my work related travels) and noticed that a shockingly high number of pubs/restaurants/shops and other businesses had recently closed down.

expatinscotland · 17/01/2009 22:47

oh, our pubs do really well round here .

moondog · 17/01/2009 22:48

And here.
Also bookies
We're a classy lot.

expatinscotland · 17/01/2009 22:50

oh, aye, the bookies do a good trade as well. can tell by the number of fag ends on the pavement in front of them despite there being a fecking ashtray bolted to the wall by the door of the place!

Aitch · 17/01/2009 22:51

we live by a kind of restauranty/estate agenty/coffee housy street, everyone's reporting that trade is markedly down.

mumeeee · 17/01/2009 22:58

YABU.

expatinscotland · 17/01/2009 23:05

now the estate agents who aren't doing rentals are hurting.

lots for let round here because nowt's selling.

Aitch · 17/01/2009 23:22

is that going to work out in your favour, expat?

expatinscotland · 17/01/2009 23:23

oh, yes, indeed, aitch. i believe it probably will .

Aitch · 17/01/2009 23:30

expatinscotland · 17/01/2009 23:34

DH is now watching 'Snakes on a Plane'.

and i'm finding it funny .

kizzib · 18/01/2009 12:40

YABU, there is a toddler aptimal drink btw, for ages 1+, some babies are fussy, I know mine is. I can't see the harm.

southernbelle77 · 18/01/2009 14:37

My HV suggested I give these probiotics drinks to dd to restore the 'good bacteria' after so many tummy problems.

YABU and it's none of your god damn business anyway!!

noonki · 18/01/2009 15:02

Pro biotics are given out with antibiotics in some countries.

DandGsmummy · 20/01/2009 21:39

My boy has these everyday do YOU want a sick child to look after???Well do you?

mersmam · 20/01/2009 21:49

I think actimel is great!!! It's the only thing that stops me being constipated in pregnancy

Gateau · 21/01/2009 09:03

You were HORRIFIED by that??
You must lead a very sheltered life, love.
And what exactly is wrong with Actimel? I'm asking because I really don't know; could someone reasonable please enlighten me?

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 21/01/2009 09:12

I thought wetherspoons had a 'one alcoholic drink only' policy for people with children. I remember seeing a tabloid article with a picture of an indignant man pointing at his pint with child strapped in buggy in background.

Anawilhelm · 05/02/2024 17:28

I will not judge as I gave Actimel to my 17mo boy today. Btw, this is why I found this tread. My baby had diarrhea because I was on antibitics treating mastites and so he also got poorly. He didn’t want to eat or drink and we’re getting desperate. 3 days like this plus we all got the flu. So he saw me taking Actimel and he wanted it. You see, I would never but… today he had some. After that he had pasta and some fruits. So we don’t know anything about this mum and her family…

Boomer55 · 05/02/2024 17:36

I shouldn’t think it will harm the child, but it’s unnecessary.
