To say no to mils invite for tea tomorow night because we are already out for tea with friends.

Im not keen on going becuase (pathetically i know)i feel so let down by them, narky and fed up with their lack of interest,This is out of the blue btw, we never hear from them normally

Eh? You've already made an arrangement and you should cancel it because your MIL asks you? Why on earth would anyone expect you to drop what you are doing for a later invitation? It would be rude to your friends and it's rude of your MIL to expect it.

it sounds a bit last minute, just make your apologies and say you would love to visit another weekend, try and sort out a date there and then so it's out of the way and you don't look like you are making excuses.

If you're laready invited elsewhere, then that's fair enough.

If she is building bridges, she will suggest another time.
