it so isn't tho.....not really......it is a baby goat, and goats are not received well on MN.

or at least, goats are eaten by the big mean trolls, and so should be protected, not bandied about in frivolous (sp?) ways!

It works best in our house when we use the word kids:

me: "where are the kids?"

dp: "I thought they were with you?"

me: "no, I asked you if you would keep an eye on the kids while I had a bath/went to the shops/mumsnetted for a bit"

dp: "oh, did you?"

me: "yes so where are the kids????"

dp: "um... dunno"

both of us: "KIIII-IIIIIDS????"

kids: "yes?"

I used to work with children and the organisation I worked for discouraged us from saying 'kids' like it was somehow derogatory to the children. Tbh though, I was never too sure why.

..here in Bristle, the term 'kiddie' is used (in certain social circles) to denote a male youth or young adult.

As in this well known phrase...

'Some gert kiddie dapped I down Chasers'

Hate it too. I am on the governing body at my ds's school and it sets my teeth on edge when anybody says kids at a meeting, I just want to stand up and say rather loudly

"forgive me if I'm wrong but I thought our pupils are children not goats!" I don't obviously, but think professionals should know better
