To be irritated by women who are sanctimonious about breastfeeding then go and wean their little darlings at some ridiculously young age

This is not a rant against early weaning, formula feeding, or breastfeeding - I need to say that now.

But, I have to be totally honest it gets right on my tits when women crow about how they breastfed then reveal that they weaned their babies at 12 weeks (I know 3 people like this).

I mean ffs if you're going to boast about following guidelines then at least actually follow them!

OP posts:
ScottishMummy · 16/01/2009 09:38

have no idea what a party ring is,but sounds repellent in some way.liked puked my ring

lucysnowe · 16/01/2009 09:39

Anyway surely it is better to wean FF babies early as formula is EVIL. Thus BF mothers who wean early are EVILLER than FF mothers who do the same. QED

ScottishMummy · 16/01/2009 09:42

hell that is a whole lot of evil.does it include ff working mums with bugaboo's who shop in waitrose - they are really EEEEEEEvil

kittywise · 16/01/2009 09:43

by lucyellensmumy"There are a few people on mumsnet who can get away with ascerbic humour. It is genuinely funny, most people realise its not personal or meant to upset. I can name a few names...The great revered Cod is the Queen of this, i like Custy too, she makes me laugh. Expat is good and Scottish mummy.

This OP however doesn't really cut it for me. Hey ho. "

Oh, the op is trying to be funny in her postings?, REALLY? Ithad not occurred to me that she was attempting humour of a strange nature. It doesn't work, just comes over as pure aggression.

Bang you don't come across as witty is that what you are trying for?

Have thankfully only come across a handful of posters spouting nothing but aggressive hot air. Let's hope this is only you online persona.

it's got sweet FA to do with you what other people dp with their babies.

chancelloroftheexCHEQUERS · 16/01/2009 09:46

You lot are hilarious

ForeverOptimistic · 16/01/2009 09:47

Lol Scottishmummy - I didn't actually know they were called party rings until I was educated by Mumsnet. They are those pink sugary biscuits with a hole in the middle.

ScottishMummy · 16/01/2009 09:49

oh LOL kitty if we all took the view that it has sweet FA to do with us other mum baby.MN would be struck dumb.eerily quiet

imagine
no parking threads
no grape threads
no i saw a baby with a bottle stuffed in its yap and i cried
No i hate bugaboo's,those poor babies carted about in that.could buy a house for that money

so for that reason thank god some folk cannot keep their beaks out

kittywise · 16/01/2009 09:56

SM, yes that's very true of course!!!!

The nasty, unnecessary aggression is really off-putting though. How can you have a discussion with someone like that?
But then again I reckon the OP isn't after a discussion

chancelloroftheexCHEQUERS · 16/01/2009 09:57

I don't see aggressive. I see gobby, but not aggressive.

Perhaps you are feeling a bit sensitive about the topic kitty?

OrmIrian · 16/01/2009 09:57

F*ck me, OP you are one very angry person!

I think it's only hypocrisy or double standards if the mother in question knows, and agrees, that early weaning is a bad thing. There are many people who don't take any notice of guidelines. So while they make be foolish (in your opinion) they may well not be hypocrites. Do you give them the benefit of your extensive wisdom, or just seethe?

Anyway surely it's better to bfeed and wean early than FF and wean early?

chancelloroftheexCHEQUERS · 16/01/2009 10:00

I think that's a really good point OrmIrian. A lot of people who have absorbed the breast is best message haven't absorbed the weaning guidelines in the same way.

kittywise · 16/01/2009 10:03

Chancellor. I am sensitive to aggressive/angry people. but I am not sensitive about the subject matter at all.

I tend not to post about matters that are very close to my heart as I cannot be objective enough!!

I don't have any particular feelings on this subject. What HAS caught my attention is the tone of the OP's posts.

I understand if you don't think them aggressive( we all have different views on things like that), but you could hardly call them pleasant!

Why would anyone want to post like that?

chancelloroftheexCHEQUERS · 16/01/2009 10:06

I think it's a sucker punch thing kitty, people always get such a pasting on AIBU, and this topic is emotive.

I guess the idea is that if people are going to dish it out she's going to dish it back?

kittywise · 16/01/2009 10:08

Tes, I see what you mean and I've been there myself, many times!

However, she's dished it out to everyone.

I suspect she's a very angry person generally

kittywise · 16/01/2009 10:08

yes, not tes!

chancelloroftheexCHEQUERS · 16/01/2009 10:09

I think she's having us on personally. Has anyone shouted troll yet?

kittywise · 16/01/2009 10:14

Yes, that'll be the one! I should have seen that one coming!

psychomum5 · 16/01/2009 10:30

LucyEllensmummy..sorry for stealing your thunder, altho tis noce.......normally my thunder gets ripped away from me, not just stolen

catski · 16/01/2009 10:58

I know someone like this too. She is highly irritating. YANBU.

And no, I am not jellus - i b/f exclusively till around 5.5 months then topped up with formula until I started to wean at around 6 months.

ScottishMummy · 16/01/2009 13:52

an observation on this thread,is the amount of rawness and emotion feeding and weaning evokes

dont think bang is troll by any description (she's not that much a bearded lady) maybe venting about some smugly of smug villas who got on her tits

Wigglesworth · 16/01/2009 14:38

I wouldn't let it bother you as long as you are not being criticised by these women for your choice/method of feeding your baby. If they are having a go at you then that would piss me off too.

LynetteScavo · 16/01/2009 18:50

ScotishMummy weaning and feeding are indeed emotive subjects, which is why I've hiden bottle/breastfeeding and weaning threads.

I have virtually been beaten over the head with an Avent bottle for saying I would give my baby solids at 5 motnhs if they showed sufficient interest.

I retaliated by squiting such posters in the eye with my breast milk.

chegirl · 17/01/2009 19:08

Party rings - YUM. I like the pink ones bestest.

Mumnutter did you REALLY change your name just for me? awwww ta MWAH backatyah

StealthPo09IsHere · 17/01/2009 19:39

ScottishMummy · 17/01/2009 19:49

abfeckinsolutely.raised hackles, humphy faces BF/weaning,touches the collective nerve every time
