Friend gave me some stuff when I was pregnant with LO as she was not going to have anymore (you know where I'm going with this one don't you!), I know that she did also ebay/car boot some stuff.

Fast forward a year, don't really see her anymore and she isn't pregnant but has asked for the stuff back. There was no suggestion at the time that she would want it back. I am still using some of it.

So AIBU in not returning everything?

Is she aware that you are still using some of it? It may seem like its been ages and she is assuming that you have finished and now wants to loan it to another friend perhaps?
Why dont you casually ask if it would be ok to hang on to the bits you need for another few months or how ever long it is?

NAB3lovelychildren · 14/01/2009 07:50

Just give it back.

Give her back the stuff you are no longer using and ask if you can keep hold of the stuff you need a while longer.
She may need the cash and need to sell it on, or want to lend it to someone else.

if you are still using it then tell her, and see what she says

everything else should be returned immediately

In these situations I find you need to be very clear at the start. Her not having any more children is not clear enough. It doesn't mean that she might not want them back (but the murkiness is not your fault, she should have specified).

I had some stuff from DBIL and said when he gave them "what shall I do with these after? Do you want them back or do you want me to charity shop them?"

Just best all round that way, saves all the stress and worry.

YANBU but it depends on the wording used really.
