To think this mother should have more sense?

I got a phonecall from the school today to say that DD had been 'bumped' by another child and had a cut above her eye. When I saw her it was actually quite nasty. I asked what had happened and she said "Coby" bumped heads with me. The thing is, this injury would never have been so bad if Coby wasn't wearing goggles. And not just for DD but for himself also. Apparantly this has happened a few times with him and its always the goggs that cause the damage, both to himself and others.

Obviously he can't help having to wear them but his mother insists on him wearing them in PE too which is when stuff like this happens.

AIBU??

YABU - VU!

I'm with Coby and his goggles.

seeker · 07/01/2009 22:13

But I suspect that the OP actually just means glasses!

2shoes · 07/01/2009 22:14

no surely only a dimwit would call glasses goggles!!

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 07/01/2009 22:14

Surely a grown woman can't express surprise that a child at school wears glasses for PE? WTF is he suppoesd to do?

twentypence · 07/01/2009 22:15

How is he supposed to do PE without them if he needs them just to be in a classroom? (whether goggles or specs.)

LadyOfWaffle · 07/01/2009 22:16

Coby?

Simplysally · 07/01/2009 22:16

Are they prescription goggles - maybe he broke his glasses and these are standby?

If that is Coby then the real danger of cuts come from the sharp haircut.

Come back OP and explain the googles. I want to go to bed and I'm waiting .....

Desiderata · 07/01/2009 22:19

Too obscure for me, my friend.

hotCheeseBurns · 07/01/2009 22:19

This thread made me laugh so much that dp made me read the whole thing out to him.

Gorionine · 07/01/2009 22:20

Are they the same goggles some headteachers get for children so they can play conquers?

ra29 · 07/01/2009 22:21

This thread is really making me lagh but I can't believe none of you have come accross these! Often kids who wear glasses where plastic goggle looking things for pe because they are safer- they don't fall off and won't smash and cause eye damage if kid gets hit in face with ball.
OP yabu!

ra29 · 07/01/2009 22:22

laugh even

nosyneighbour · 07/01/2009 22:23

fecking answerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.........................................

Desiderata · 07/01/2009 22:24

Hmmm, I'm not entirely sure it's something you should be taking the piss out of, is it?

Kids with poor eyesight?

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 07/01/2009 22:24

Funny how OP hasn't been back...

megcleary · 07/01/2009 22:26

i wore glasses from a young age and have still never forgiven the bitch of a relative who said "are you still wearing the goggles" i still come up with replies in my head such as yes without them i walk into walls

but this is a weird thread

hotCheeseBurns · 07/01/2009 22:26

I bet his eyesight isn't as bad as mine

BrieVinDeAlkaSeltzer · 07/01/2009 22:29

The last vestiges of private schools go back soon, or do Uni's get a long break at this time of the year ??

allnewcontrolfreaky · 07/01/2009 22:29

no one is laughing at glasses wearing kids though sre they, they're laughing at the thread..... do keep up!

ra29 · 07/01/2009 22:30

Desi- my ds wears glasses and had a pair of these (although wouldn't wear them). What made me laugh was the idea that people were thinking kids were just running round wearing goggles (or mums were making them) for no apparent reason
