To be furious with the man from The Red Cross?

Twenty past eight, both DC in bed and the doorbell has woken toddler DS who is a terrible sleeper. According to my husband the chap said he has to be out until 8:30 pm.

We live in an area where there are lots of families with young children and it is fairly obvious that this is the case.

Then again I may be BU because if he had called between 3 and 7 I'd have been far too busy with homework, dinner, baths etc...

well he's got to do his job,
and maybe your dovrbell is too loud
and would you have been annoyed if a mate had called round at same time
but i don't agree with charities doorstepping in general
so you are and you aren't

YANBU - i don't think anyone should be knocking on peoples doors asking for money, asking them to sign up to the latest money saving energy company, spreading the word of God - anything. Regardless of the time, but particularly annoying at night. I would have been even madder if it were a mate and told them to feck off

TheCrackFox · 07/01/2009 20:36

YANBU, I would never hand over my credit card or bank details to somebody who just randomly turned up on my door step. Can't stand them no matter what time they turn up.

I would have been more annoyed if a friend rang the doorbell without calling, texting or sending an email first because they would know I have young DC.

Is there a world where friends charge in and out of each other's houses when children are in bed and no arrangements have been made, or am I just behind the times?

It drives me crazy. I live in a victorian semi and they always ring when im painting the ceiling or changing a lightbulb or doing something that involves ladders and DIY.
Grrr...

It's too late. I hate door to door prople.

i would be furious at the company running the fundraising not him though.

That aside I love the Red Cross, I have seen first hand some of the amazing work they have done.
