Can I take back DS's shoes because the velcro has gone

Bought DS 13yrs shoes for school beginning of last term, so 4 months old. They are adult size 9 shoes we bought in M&S black leather version of these

The velcro won't stick anymore. I tried trimming it but that only worked for a week or so. They are useless as they are. Have just noticed the reviews on m&s mention problem with velcro. The rest of the shoe is fine.

Does this come under fit for purpose as a pair of adult shoes should last more than 4 months.

Yes, you should be able to.

My aunt makes covers for boats and the range of velcro is immense. They have obviously used an insufficient grade.

take them back...i would say they are definately not fit for purpose.

pocketmonster · 03/01/2009 23:44

yes you can.

If M $ S then yes
Remember workin on refund till in BHS and someone bringing a yeear ols pair of slippers back cos they were worn out - and the manger gave a refund!
They stank, they walke by themselves to the refund cupboard!

Thanks, will take them back tomorrow. It's bad enough having to keep buying new shoes for him because he growing so fast, can't afford to replace a perfectly good pair of shoes that fit, just because of the velcro.
He's not that sporty so they haven't been worn out playing football or running around.

I'm off to M&S tomorrow to return DD's boots.

They were leather, should have been £35 but we bought them with 20% end of November.

One strap has broken, when DH looked to see if it opened properly (it's for decoration only, but he only pulled it gently and it came straight away from the boot) and one heel has worn right through to the honeycomb centre, if you know what I mean. The quality is really appalling. I'm quite at M&S!

And dd isn't really rough with her shoes/boots. The last pair we got were from Tescos, £8 in the January sales. We still have them, but she's gone up a shoe size now, so we had to replace them. They're still going strong, quality wise though. Just shows you...

m&s quality does seem to be slacking lately Squilly. We recently had to take back a suitcase that was only used once as the handle broke , customer service said it was the third one that week.

We took the shoes back and they refunded no problems. Went to clarks and got him a pair of bootlegs, which usually last.

Go for it. I take back EVERYTHING! DH jokes that we just rent stuff.

My DH made the same joke as we were queuing in m&s today Stiefyloo
