why do we have to be equal in all aspect of life??

we are not the same.

women are better at some of life's tasks. men are better at others.

obviously there are exceptions to this.(women with high levels of testerone for eg. tend to have a more "male" attitude and way of doing things)

i was raised by a liberal mother who did everything for herself. raised 5 kids while running a business. with no childcare and as a single parent for the most of that time we were growing up.

i was encouraged to do follow lead and be successful.

however, it seemed a very unhappy life.

i have to ponder the idea that perhaps she would have had a much more satisfactory life if she hadn't been so determined to be equal and get her own way.

is it really so terrible to just accept women may sometimes, in certain fields of work, get paid less.

I also dont see why so many women strive to equal there partner in pay.

what is wrong with your other half being the greater earner. it is half the battle then when you go for maternity leave. you will be able to relax a little and enjoy it. than worrying that the main salary is cut drastically as the female is the higher earner.

i know a few on here will want to flame me. but i would actually like to see a reasonable debate on why so many women are so determined to do everything.

tell me why you want equality so badly.

convert me!!

Xenia, IMHO there is still very much discrimination at work, I see it every day. I am in the private sector and the discrimination is everywhere from who should make the tea for a meeting (oh, look there's a woman, she'll do) to maternity leave (oh, pg again, what are we going to do without you?) -its everywhere.

While i agree that there are many employers out there who exploit workers, paying them rubbish wages and expecting double the work out of it, i get fed up with the fact that the majority of people always look at the employer for blame rather than agknowledging the fact that sometimes it's the employee that's at fault.

My dps father first took over the shop in the early 60s and my dp has been running it since the mid 90s. I have had discussions with dps father about when he had the shop and was told that he rarely ever had trouble with staff. The people who worked for him were reliable, friendly, hard working and long standing. He said they cared about their jobs and did little extras, not because they were made to but because they wanted to and took pride in their work.

My dp says it's only in recent years that this has changed. Alot of peoples attitudes regarding employment nowadays stinks. I am not trying to make out like there was some kind of "golden age" years ago as i know there were nightmare employees back then too. But when you look back, there is a huge diffence in peoples attitudes now to back then. Alot of people nowadays couldn't give a stuff. Again i am talking about a small business here, i don't know what goes on in larger companies.

One person dp employed, lasted one day and went off with her uniform. Dp managed to get hold of her in the end and asked her to bring back the uniform, she said she would but of coarse didn't. No biggy to her, she probably just tossed it in the bin but to dp that was £25 gone down the drain.
