My DH bought me a bra for the first time in the whole of our relationship, this Christmas.

Got my size from an ill fitting old bra.

Faced the whole of John Lewis lingerie department with so many beautiful things and do you know what he chose?

this!

Ambi · 31/12/2008 17:17

lol, I know what you mean, I've never rcvd lingerie either.

cornsilk · 31/12/2008 17:17

I like that actually Doodle!

Doodle2U · 31/12/2008 17:19

You do??

Did you miss the bit about "Faced the whole of John Lewis lingerie department with so many beautiful things ..."?

I want something beautiful, not practical, functional, middle aged!!!!

NancysGarden · 31/12/2008 17:23

maybe he likes the shape. Tha's important. But without clothes not the sexiest thing going admittedly

cornsilk · 31/12/2008 17:32

I like big pants and comfy bras.

NancysGarden · 31/12/2008 17:38

ALL my pants are big, I wear shorts. DP likes them (or says he does) just can't get on with strings since DD

duomonstermum · 31/12/2008 17:39

rofl @ doodles. mine would prob pick something red and itchy. what is it with men and itchy red and black combos???

duomonsterdad, if you are reading this i like purple, teal, cream and black. and def not the kind that doodles DH got her.

i have now taken to pointing out that if i get looovely lingerie he's more likely to enjoy it too just waiting for him to a) bite the bullet and buy something or b) show me the money!!

b doesn't look likely seeing as he had face on at the price of a decent bra. my dear, when they are an f cup i need all the scaffolding support i can get

DH has just asked me to make it clear that while he doesn't do lingerie, he does indulge my sinful shoe habit and as such will the MN jury please go easy on him

BitOfFun · 31/12/2008 17:47

Lol @ doodle's dh! At least he bought you a bra, knows your size and escaped Fr Ted stylee in one piece! In your situation I would lavish praise on him and say "ooh, I'm so chuffed you don't mind buying lingerie for me, you know some time I would really love something like x, y, or z." Better yet, get a brochure from a lovely lingerie company or go on-line and peruse in his presence, cooing at things you like and seeing what he thinks. I reckon it would bring a teenage illicit thrill like boys looking in the John Lewis catalogue did in the good old days before wall-to-wall porn MTV. If that doesn't help, I don't know what would

cornsilk · 31/12/2008 17:47

That would be good enough for me!

dreamingofagreenlawnchristmas · 31/12/2008 17:55

I'm with BitofFun, he tried. And at least it wasn't blatantly self-interested (yes DH, that's addressed to you and your ill-advised choices for me in red, black, and "leather" ...)

fuzzywuzzy · 31/12/2008 17:58

Right before Christmas, I managed to drag a close friend to La Senza and we put together a really beautiful Christmas present for his girlfriend.
However I had to supress the urge to wallop him in public, when he says...'ermmm I think she's about your size...' Like no there are very few women who resemble flat chested stick insects. I was right too, his girlfriend is a FF, how could one possibly compare such a glorious cleavage to my non chest???
So what you actually need is a female friend/relative to drag him present shopping for you.

FilthyBrit · 31/12/2008 18:01

Sexy undies are filthy!

duomonstermum · 31/12/2008 18:02

fuzzy, that would be his idea of hell! and if left online, he is likely to go for dreamings DH's choice, esp the leather.

i think i'll just start buying him leather thongs and see what he makes of them

OP posts:
Miyazaki · 31/12/2008 18:04

Doodle that's funny.

What did you say?

BitOfFun · 31/12/2008 18:07

Oh no, close supervision advised for online lingerie browsing ....as I said, make it a mutual perusal for maximum likelihood of him getting his credit card out titillation.

fuzzywuzzy · 31/12/2008 18:10

OK when you say leather, did he actually walk into Anne Summers or something? Surely finding leather underwear takes a lot more effort than gorgeous comfortable underwear???

duomonstermum · 31/12/2008 18:14

fuzzy, you'd be suprised

OP posts:
boogiewoogie · 31/12/2008 21:27

To op what a generous man! I would be too. Dh did buy something for me a while back from La Senza for our cotton anniversary bless him but it's hardly the type of thing I'd wear now (Little Miss Sunshine lingerie) given my age.

LedodgyChristmasjumper · 31/12/2008 21:33

My sil's dp bought her a trip to Italy (they went yesterday) for Christmas I was mind you they are childless and only been together for 2 years. I was lucky because he was my secret santa and bought me Clarins which again put my dp to shame.

Duomm, if it helps at all, my DH used to buy me really beautiful lingerie on trips abroad. I've asked him to stop, as my (slightly ugly) M&S purchases much more comfortable! (I used some other excuse and was grateful, really!)
