To think I genuinely have the itchiest toe on earth?

It's ridiculous. I don't walk around barefoot, I don't go to the swimming baths or gym, I keep my feet to myself.

And yet somehow (I'm thinking perhaps through new shoes or borrowing DP's socks- which were clean, and he has nice clean feet), I have contracted some kind of itchy toe disease.

It makes me want to hurl. My whole toe is red and F! And itchy itchy itchy. It's strange how one itch can make you want to chop your whole foot off!!

FIL had similar a few years ago. Is it sore too? Is it gout?

MumofBaby · 29/12/2008 12:11

OMG what is gout?? That sounds very serious!! It is sore but I think that's from non-stop scratching!

put sudocreme on it and an old pair of socks.

belgo · 29/12/2008 12:15

Athelete's foot?
Chilblain?

ThatAngelsGotATreeUpHerArse · 29/12/2008 12:17

No don't panic, gout is caused, usually, by a build-up of uric acid crystals in the toe joint (usually the big toe) and sometimes other joints; you normally have to reduce (or stop) drinking such things as red wine or port, and eating such things as tomatoes and oranges i.e. quite acidic things.

It may not be gout as it's supposed to be very painful see here

Apologies if I've scared you unnecessarily - it was just a suggestion, your doc would know better

theSuburbanDryad · 29/12/2008 12:17

Try running it under the cold tap.

I hate having itchy feet (I get eczema on my feet) - I would genuinely rather have pain than itchiness!!

I've done the cold water thing, then put sudocreme and a sock on. It's a little less itchy, I've got to say. It looks swollen though.

Maybe you've been bitten by something? I got a mosquito bite on my forehead yesterday - in DECEMBER ffs!

MumofBaby · 29/12/2008 12:28

Haha, that is very unlucky Suburban! There's no lump though, it's a general itch all the way down the top of the second to big toe.

It sounds like atheltee foot. I used to have it and actually loved the itching and blissful scratching.

I missed it when it was gone.

theSuburbanDryad · 29/12/2008 12:30

Eeewwww colbeck!

MumofBaby · 29/12/2008 12:31

Colbeck- I can't believe you just admitted that!

Urgh now I have it on my middle finger, too.

And it's infectious!

MumofBaby · 29/12/2008 12:33
