to suggest that a 2nd bottle of champagne is not going to help DH build DD's bike?

He's been at it since 7.30pm, drinking a bottle of champagne "to help". He had an hour off to watch Gavin and Stacey and is still on the axel. He thinks a 2nd bottle will be a good idea.

All of my stuff is done, I want to go to bed ( been up since 4am) and I can't because he is spread out in front of fire, and i can't sprinkle fairy dust until all the spanners etc are gone.

AIBU?

What kind of bike is it that takes so long? Dh put dd's together last night then put his feet up while I slaved away wrapping presents (and drinking Santa's sherry...).

Sounds familiar. My DH gave up on building my little one's Playmobil castle at 3am last night. (We'd bought it second hand and there was no fancy box and a missing page of the instructions.) We did have the second bottle of champagne and got a bit silly, using all the knights and waging a play war.

DS didn't seem to notice it wasn't finished!!!
