Well it is a very busy time of year for the post office. We're all human and everyone makes mistakes!

TotalChaos · 24/12/2008 11:43

might be an automatic machine reading it. so blame the computer company

thisisyesterday · 24/12/2008 11:43

well, sometimes they just get bundled up wrong don't they?

people do make mistakes sometimes.. it's only human.

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 24/12/2008 11:44

quite possible that it's been caught up in a pile of post, they do have a lot to deliver, and accidently delivered to the wrong address.

Or perhaps the postcode on the envelope is wrong - they read from the bottom up when sorting mail.

courvoisierbrandycreamolafoam · 24/12/2008 11:45

was probably stuffed into her pile by mistake

YABU our posty arrived in his own car 10 minutes ago with a parcel he forgot earlier this morning
God Bless the Posties!

Flihgtattendant · 24/12/2008 11:45

Oh we had a special dlivery packet yesterday - signed for it then noticed it was our address but not our name!

Had to google and found out it was a neighbour...so took it round, made friends, you know...I think it happens all the time.

We also had a card to Robert and Anne at our address...people obv just forget the proper one and guess roughly where their old friends live,.

I say stick it on the wall with the rest, they've prob got ours!!

tjacksonpfc · 24/12/2008 11:56

sorry for your experiance 2advent but my dp is a postie and at this time of year he is leaving the house at 5am and not returning till 3 sometimes 4pm due to the amount of mail that is being sent i think they do a great job and it is easy to blame them but at the end of the day liek people say they are only human and mistakes happen. Just be thankful its not you ot there having to deliver all this mail and deal with customers complaiing when stuff is misdelievered which is not always the posties fault could be down to bad handwriting wrong postcode all sorts of reasons. at least you have got the card.

slayerette · 24/12/2008 11:59

My sister's parcel for DS never arrived - posted on 12th December. She has receipt of posting but it wasn't recorded delivery or anything like that.

Not sure what to do about it - any way of finding out what happened to it, oh MNetters with postal knowledge?!

kslatts · 24/12/2008 12:01

I think you need to accept that sometimes errors occur.

Base · 24/12/2008 12:05

Slayer - phone customer services who will try to track it for you. If they cant find it they will send a book of stamp ascompensation - crapI know. If it was sent special delivery you would have protectionfor x amount and been able to claim money as compensation.

slayerette · 24/12/2008 12:08

Thanks - will try that. Am most sad because my sister always puts lots of effort into parcels and I know she had got DS something he really wanted this year. She took a gamble on not paying extra for recorded and this time it wasn't worth it - sigh. But you never know do you? And it must be so busy this time of year.

SleighGirl · 24/12/2008 12:09

If she has a receipt for it you can claim for the parcel up to the value of £36

Fimbo · 24/12/2008 12:19

Slayer I wouldn't give up yet. It may turn up after Christmas my parents sent my a parcel from Scotland and it took well over a week to arrive, despite being sent very costly first class. I live in the East of England so wasn't going that far, but when it did arrive it had a huge orange sticker on it saying do not fly. Now goodness knows what my parents told the PO was in the box as it was just things like socks and gloves for the dc for christmas.

I would sit tight for the moment.

MrsMagooo · 24/12/2008 12:22

YABU - things are hectic this time of year & they're working really hard.

Everyone makes mistakes.

2AdventSevenfoldShoes · 24/12/2008 17:11
