Not that I will of course.

I work in a shop and yesterday a lady came in and threw a bag at me and asked me to refund these items asap. She was hysterical.

I just got on with it but she continued to talk at 100 miles an hour about god knows what until I asked her if she was ok.

No she said, my house has been burgled and all my kids xmas pesents have gone. We are refunding everything we can find to try and buy them back!

At that point I could not have said much more, i just let her vent. Poor women.

Who does this!!!! Grrr. I know not really aibu but been bugging me ever since (maybe hormonal as 24+1 pregnant at moment)

xx

Bless her, I would have been tempted to refund and let her keep the items. But then I would probably be sacked??!

M&S have a policy that although they will refund cakes, once you have actually walked out of the store with them (even just to the car park) they can't re-sell them. I tried to explain that I wouldnt mind just having it for free , mum and I had duplicate bought a birthday cake.

Hopefully the lady was insured and just needs cash asap for Christmas???

What sort of people actually steal childrens chritmas presents?

BouncingTinsel · 23/12/2008 09:41

I was burgled in Christmas day many years ago - I was visiting my mum at the time, no presents stolen though, but lovely welcome home

The poor woman, what a horrid thing to have happened. Some people just have no conscience

She probably is insured but the likelihood is she won't get a pay out until after Christmas.

tessofthedurbervilles · 23/12/2008 09:41

Drug addicts who will steal anything to fund their next fix prolly. What a shame I think its so sad for the kids at xmas.

girlylala0807 · 23/12/2008 09:42

She was insured, cant do anything till January though.

Her kids were really excited when I spoke to them cause a policeman had been chatting to them all morning. They had no idea bless them.

Its a clothes shop I work in, if i could have got away with it I would have gave her them, If you work in retail to Pamalet, you like me understand the consequences of that kind of good deed!!

It could have been Santa robbing them back - santa is not immune to the credit crunch.
