6 weeks ago I ordered a hand cart with awning for Ds1 xmas, was told it was in stock, everything else on order arrived but no cart so I phoned them. "Oh it won't be in stock until 5th of Dec". Fine I wait til 8th phone them again. "Oh it's not coming in until the 15th". On the 17th I phone, "Yes it will be with you by 19th". No cart arrives so I phone again, "you will definately have it by mon". Phone this morning to ensure it was coming, I got a call t 3pm to say they don't have any stock and I won't get for Xmas! I am furious! I can not get one now for love or money. I do have a back up gift but this was the one thing he wanted and has been eyeing it for months, he is going to be so diappointed. Please tell me what I say to him Xmas morning, I will spend the next two days trying to convince him he really wants something else!

tell him now that it hasn't arrived. Don't wait till Christmas morning.

DoubleBluff · 22/12/2008 19:03

How old is he?

pamelat · 22/12/2008 19:03

Thats awful, where is it from?
Maybe you can make a big day out of collecting it over Xmas and New year, as though that was the plan?

compo · 22/12/2008 19:03

how old is he and what exactly is it?

agree with Tissy, tell him now

seeker · 22/12/2008 19:14

If he's little, I would (sorry about this, but I am seriously pathetic!) write a letter for your ds from Father Christmas and leave it outside his bedroom door for him to find in the morning, explaining that unfortunately there was a problem with the making of the cart and the elves will make a special trip as soon as they've finished making it. I use Lucida Blackletter in red for letters from Factehr Christmas on subjects like this!

seeker - a letter from FC is a great idea.

earlyriser · 22/12/2008 19:30

Bet it was ELC...they never get it right, how disappointing, but tbh i bet in amongst all the other presents/general excitment of xmas day, he probably won't even notice!

seeker · 22/12/2008 19:49

But you need to do the letter in advance (tonight perhaps) so that, just in case he's really expecting it on Christnas morning, he won't be disappointed

only1malteaser · 22/12/2008 20:02

Was let down by ELC 2 years ago so never shop with them now but taught me a lesson and left plenty of time with this. It was from letterbox, not showing on their site anymore but it looked like a mini version of the wagons you see in old westerns. The company are in Manchester and I am in Inverness, I would have gone there tomorrow if it was possible but they are not getting stock until end of Jan. DS will be 4 on 8th of Jan so even that is out. I am probably more disappointed than he will be tbh. It is probably the lack of communication I have had from them that is annoying as much as anything. I told him tonight Santa wasn't sure if he could deliver it cos it won't fit down the chimney, he just looked so disappointed
