ok, so it's 15:59 and my mail still hasn't come and it's starting to piss me off... it's been getting worse and worse, and i just think this is pathetic! what if you were waiting for something important (like a Boden order ) and stayed in to wait for it???

anyone else having the same? are my expectations of a morning mail delivery unrealistic?/?

(PS i live in a block of flats so i know it's the mail that hasn't come, not that i am particularly unpopular!)

I really don't see why it matters what time of the day domestic mail arrives, especially if it keeps the costs down.

All the posties wives/partners will be on in a minute.
Ours used to be delivered at all times, someitmes not at all. The street went for 7 days once without mail.

maybe you just haven't got anything today!!

southeastastra · 17/12/2008 17:04

maybe you'll be happy when it's privatised and you'll have to collect it yourself

maretta · 17/12/2008 17:04

Although perhaps clothes should get some sort of priority treatment

Royal Mail deliveries have been exceptionally slow this year I have found. But it is not the posties fault at all.

My Boden order came by courier rather than parcelforce which they stated on the order dispatched thing.

My parents send me a box last Monday which I finally got this Monday, it was just odds and sods for us for Christmas, gloves, slippers etc and it had a big orange sticker all over it saying "Do Not Fly". (parents live in Scotland). I was pmsl

but mail is a morning thing. i feel all out of sync when it doesnt arrive... not even a little tiny useless catalogue...

Why doesn't post come at breakfast time anymore? Just a curius question?

beforesunrise · 17/12/2008 17:08

i wasn't in anyway implying it was the posties' fault, in fact i know it isnt because our postman told me they are being made to take on longer tours or something. royal mail is just badly organised....

Think yourself lucky you're not in possession of a new car, which you can't drive because the silly sods you bought it from decided to tax it before they sold it, and then post it to you in the Christmas rush.

Our cupboards are like Mother Hubbard's and I can't even get a delivery slot round here because they're all booked. We're living on tea and white toast from the corner shop... well, nearly anyway.

And I'm supposed to be meeting friends tomorrow and I won't be able to bloody well go!

Outside of that, I'm not really bothered when my post comes, as long as it does come.

elkiedee · 17/12/2008 17:18

I don't think you're being unreasaonable, but think it's the fault of Royal Mail not the posties. If you remember the strikes last year one of the issues was a change in shift patterns - to cut pay for overnight work and also to tie posties to daytime shifts. I think a system where posties could get up early and do all their deliveries by lunchtime, ideally earlier, was certainly in the interests of those of us wanting our post.

I've never been used to getting post before I left for work anyway, when I was on maternity leave last time it came about 11 am, now it varies, sometimes it's late morning, sometimes much later.

Simplysally · 17/12/2008 17:23

It doesn't bother me as I'm not home til 6pm at the earliest but it must be frustrating if you are waiting for something. We did use to get our post before 8am - I often saw people reading their post on the tube or bus. it has come as late 7.30pm as well.
