they have a stupid tree with lights and a few small decorations nothing fantastic and its not that big a village to need one yet the kids parks (both of them) are all broken and unsafe and have been all the time we have lived year - since last march!!! my thinking is money on parks not tree etc, though i know parks are more expensive surely a safe area for kids to play is imprtant, they are covered in glass, the floor stuff is all broken and sticking up and nothing is safe at all!!!

I would jenny

they should make it a priority to clean up the mess and keep it clean imo

moondog · 16/12/2008 22:01

It's probably money from a different budget for a start.

jennybensmummy · 16/12/2008 22:02

exactly!!

I think you should.

The bureaucracy of which budget pays for what isn't your concern. They should have set more sensible budgets at the start of the year.

parish council?

IME they don't have money to buy a box of crackers!

Speak to the county/town council.

jennybensmummy · 16/12/2008 22:13

i phoned the local district council a while back about it and they said its not their problem i had to speak to parish council?!

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 16/12/2008 22:19

No, but the parish council can lobby the main council for particular things in their area can't they?

jennybensmummy · 16/12/2008 22:21

If you ring the chairman like now as they are about to set the budget for the next year they may be able to include a refurbishment of the playground in that budget.

it may be worth you attending the next meeting, they usually have 'public participtation' where you can air your thoughts. Check the local village noticeboard for the date of the next one. You would be more than welcome to attend. They do need to know these things, it is your parish council, and your budget.

Go easy on the councillors though, they are all volunteers and not paid for their troubles.
