I just know the roast will get wasted.

Ds is just recovering form that awful bug and his appetite is still really small, Dd1 has a sore throat and so isn't hungry, and I have a cold and can't really taste anything.

AIBU to do hotdogs tonight instead and then do the roast another day ??

yanbu, why would you be???

TheFalconInThePearTree · 14/12/2008 15:22

Not at all.

IllegallyBrunette · 14/12/2008 15:24

Because we had a junk food day yesterday (dd2's birthday sleepover), and it feels like ages since we had a proper (healthy) meal, but then thats because we have all been ill with something or another I suppose.

Weekends are for relaxing. We often eat hotdogs on a sunday and have the roast on monday. Tomorrow is roast pork.

NewKnickersFromSantaOnMaHead · 14/12/2008 15:27

Mmmm hotdogs!!! YANBU

cheshirekitty · 14/12/2008 16:03

I love hotdogs. Can I come around?

DoubleBluff · 14/12/2008 16:04

i love hotdogs esp those herta ones! Yummy!

OrmIrian · 14/12/2008 16:07

No. Do it. Your family will love you.

I am always amazed with children at how the level of enjoyment in a meal is in inverse proportion to the amount of effort required.

HollyCherry · 14/12/2008 18:43

I have no excuse and we've just had fish and chips!

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 14/12/2008 19:01

We're having pizza and garlic bread because neither of us can be arsed to cook.... we had hotdogs for lunch yesterday because they are my pregnancy craving... mmmmm....

MoccaMint · 14/12/2008 19:01

Watched Jamie Oliver's Xmas special the other day.

Thought it would be a good idea to use some of his ideas and use them to cook a lovely organic corn fed chicken.

Think you can guess the rest:
The worst roast chicken I've ever cooked and with all the extra stuff I had to do to try and save it, it took so long I felt too tired to finish it! Have never seen so much washing up after a roast either!!!

basementbear · 14/12/2008 20:55

Hot dogs in buns YUM!! Am wondering if I can get away with this on Christmas Day as I know the DCs would definitely prefer it to turkey and all the trimmings (so would I actually!)

thankyoumumnetelf1908 · 14/12/2008 21:01

We have all been really ill and couldn't go to the shops and so all the food had run out - DS 5yrs had dry rice pops (no milk left) and a yoghurt for lunch and loved it!!! DH managed to get the shops this afternoon in time for dinner (phew!)
