We have just been given tickets to see Wizard Of Oz on ice today. I was planning to go, but dd is not well and I decided to stay home with her, rather than to inflict poorly child upon her grandmother.
Dh has taken ds (8) but was rolling his eyes as he left, and seemed a bit miffed.
I know he doesn't mind that I'm staying back for dd (11m) but I know he's got the hump that he has to go with just ds.
AIBU to think that he should be happy at the propect of getting some lovely quality time with his son?

YANBU, I think with some men there is a sort of mental barrier they have to cross in order to really start enjoying time with their dcs.

It's like just because I'm not there he won't enjoy it.... touching in one way, frustrating in another!

why didn't he stay home with dd and you go if he didn't want to?!!

Maybe it's that it's not his idea of the way to have fun and "bond" with his son - he might see that sort of activity (rightly or wrongly) as more "your" department.

In other words, it might not be that he objects to quality time - more that this isn't his idea of quality time.

lol, good suggestion but I have a damaged tendon in my foot and driving is v.painful at the mo.... and the show is over an hours drive away. I would have loved that though, I really wanted to see that show!

don't feel too sorry for me. I am consoling myself with what was going to be the mother-i-laws box of chocolate orange segments
