DH parenting skills :(

DH is under a lot of pressure at work. DS is a wilful 5 yr old who has his own agenda etc etc

Last night DH flipped as DS was ignoring him when he asked questions and he was constantly asking for stuff. Then Dh told him to wait until he went back to the kitchen. The next thing DS said was repeating the same requirement . He's 5 and...he was being a 5 year old

But DH flips, jumps up ranting and shouting, gets a juice and throws it at DS I'm now stuck in a room with 2 kids (DS and DH) having a strop !

I said I was appauled by both parties, DS for not listening and DH for over reacting. I pointed out that I have had 5 years of DS being DS and I told them to go to bed until they had calmed down. FFS I'll be giving them both reward stickers at this rate

mmmmm i am sending you loadsa hugs.....i don't care if this is sexist - boys will be boys (thats your DH i mean)

Throwing a juice at a 5 year old is unacceptable. He's meant to be a grown man, how cruel.

What did you say to your DH when he threw the juice at your son?

AndaGrouchyBahHumbugtoyou · 13/12/2008 12:04

I told them to go to bed!

If my DH had thrown anything at my 5 year old i would have flipped at him tbh. That was unacceptable behaviour IMO.

I totally agree with you. I was so shocked by it I was just an observer. I thought someone needed to stay level headed and diffuse the situation.

After DS was out of the way I ripped a strip off DH and told him I did not want a repeat of that behaviour.

Well DH is getting uppity again, glad he's gone to the football match to let off a huge slab of steam.
