not to send Xmas cards to all 40 kids and staff members in ds1's nursery?

Sorry if this has been done to death. I haven't seen it and genuinely need an answer. There are 39 kids and 9 staff members at ds' preschool. They've given out name lists and I know several people have written cards to every child on the list. Seems ridiculous to me, was only planning on sending cards and a little present to ds' keyworkers and a couple of families we're friends with, not everyone there.

Plus he's also at another preschool so does that mean the same will be expected there?
I don't want to look mean, but I'd seriously rather give a donation to the nursery for them to buy equipment rather than waste the money on cards, not to mention the enviromental cost if every parent does it, it will be over 900 cards floating about if my maths is correct.. Seriously, AIBU??

absolutely don't do it. What a frigging waste of paper/money etc.

send to your childs main friends and the keyworker I wouldn't bother with any others

make a card with DS 'to all my friends at nursery' which could go on display (we display all cards sent to the staff at nursery) and give a donation to preschool funds if you want to. job done. I always refused to write cards on behalf of a child who could not write for children who cannot read! (did do birthday cards as were only one at a time!)

Now DD can read and write I leave it up to her regarding who of her friends she sends cards to. Do ensure they are written for Beaver leader etc though as a thankyou.

Last year I didn't send anything to anyone, and I work in education. Don't do it, spend your money on something useful.

I can get by without the smelly candle, chocolate or other item that I send to the local charity shop.

Anyway, I am paid to do my job.

The one card to everyone is a great idea, will do that plus a few for keyworkers and then give them £10 for funds that I would have spent on cards.

That's fine with me, ds gets loads of support and attention from them (he has language issues and they've been amazing) so I don't begrudge it in the slightest. Just glad I don't have to write 40 more fecking cards!!!

Just write ONE card to everyone and pin it on the noticeboard, everyone else do the same.
Total waste of paper to do it individually!
