  1. go up to strange teenage boys and tell them they look f-ing ridiculous in jeans where the crotch is down round their knees (designed to be there, not in a pant flashing manner)

  2. Go up to girls with teeny tiny skirts and either bare legs or thin tights that they'll catch their death of cold in this weather

and several other things. Obviously I don't do either of these things (I do remember what it was like to be that age!) but I often imagine myself doing them.

i think the pants showing boys with the crotch round their knees and jenans 5 sizes too big round the waist look much worse!

southeastastra · 10/12/2008 13:37

i'd like to ask them what the deal is, with wearing one flourescent orange and green gloves and socks.

Iklboo · 10/12/2008 13:38

Always get the urge to go up to teenage boys, drag their pants UP shouting "tuck yourself in young man!" in a very nanny-ish voice
Looks ridicul-arse

Iklboo · 10/12/2008 13:39

I'd show thenm pictures of ME wearing fluorescent socks n stuff back in about 1983. THAT should put them off

SpandexIsMyEnemy · 10/12/2008 13:39

well, I came out of the pub the other day, and said to DP god now I know i'm old - he said what do u mean- I said, that girl there (wearing nothing really) will catch her death of cold, gone are the days when I go out like that with that I pulled my grannie cardi a bit tighter around me, and stuck a hat on! lol.- ho hum! (and i'm 26!)

but yes I hate the jeans around the knees look, almost as much as the boxers over the top of the jeans.

MrsMattie · 10/12/2008 13:39

I'd like to go up to teenage girls who wear those ridiculous long side fringes that cover half their face (is it all teenage girls, these days?)...and sweep their fringes back, clip them neatly off their foreheads and say 'There, now. Don't you feel so much better now that you can SEE?'

tessofthedurbervilles · 10/12/2008 13:41

Those jeans are just silly....I want to run up and grab the waist band and hoick them up and wedgie the scruffy little oiks....bring back national service !

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 10/12/2008 13:43

There was a teen at Chessington World of Adventures in half term. He was pushing 6' tall, had the knee-crotch jeans on and a long baggy top. It looked like he had itty bitty legs and a mad long body! It was so tempting to tap him on the shoulder and say "you do realise you look like a tw*t don't you?"

But who am I to judge, I was a teen in the eighties.

What tess said.

YANBU.
I want to tell boys who wear thir jeans mid-buttock that that look originated by gang members in jails in the US, and was a means of signifying that the wearer was sexually available to other inmates.

... Not so macho/cool now, hey?

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 10/12/2008 13:54

Snort!

I want to hem the jeans of teenagers who wander around with 5 inches of denim trailing in the mud.

And put vests on the girls who are wandering around in hipster trousers and bare midriffs in WINTER.

TinselianAstra · 10/12/2008 13:57

Is that true? Actually I don't care, I want it to be true.

Did you know Obama doesn't like the crotch down by your knees look either?

unavailable · 10/12/2008 13:59

Tinsel - It is apparently. Isnt it great!

StretchmarkSantaClaws · 10/12/2008 14:00

Mrsmattie I have hair like that!!

cheeseandsproutssarnie · 10/12/2008 14:00

lol at this thread.yanbu.

mistlethrush · 10/12/2008 14:02

Also reminds me of ds when just out of washable nappies so that his nappy didn't hold his trousers up - often his trousers would drop down to '1/2 mast' and have to be pulled up again...

BellaBear · 10/12/2008 14:03

oh unavailable, I am so going to use that when I get back to school after ML. I am looking forward to the look on all the boys' faces when I tell them that one!

SpandexIsMyEnemy · 10/12/2008 14:04

now the question is - is it because we're mothers, or is it because we're old battleaxes who have forgotten when we were younger?

unavailable · 10/12/2008 14:17

Spandex - I dont know about you but unfortunately for me its the former. I am becoming quite an intolerant old grump in my (early?) middle age.

Joolyjoolyjoo · 10/12/2008 14:20

I hate this too- they look so daft! It is so cold up here, that the girls with the short skirts/ bare legs combo have legs the colour of corned beef- SO attractive. (I haven't looked closely enough at the teenage boys arses to see if they are the same, thankfully!)

Coldtits · 10/12/2008 14:21

Iklboo I did that once. I pulled someone's jeans up and drunkenly scolded "Ladies might want to look at your pants later, but don't make assumptions, dear!"

Then I did his belt up.

Then the barmaid asked us to leave.

true story, that.

PingpingsatonSantasface · 10/12/2008 14:22

My fringe is like that. YOUR ALL OLD!!!! This is 2008 get with it

Only joking I do wear short skirts or dresses when I go raving but I am young.

Don't really see that many boys in London with there jeans near there knees its not the in thing here.

TinselianAstra · 10/12/2008 14:26

I'm not even a mother. I suppose I should be grudgingly impressed by the girls' dedication to the cause, but I just think brr.

IllegallyBrunette · 10/12/2008 14:29

MrsMattie - I made dd1 do exactly that with her fringe this morning. It looks bloody stupid and she can't see where she is going.
