...a skateboard?

Ds told FC that he really really wanted a skateboard, but mummy says he's too young. FC said "Oh I'm sure we can make sure you get one anyway!"

I know they're supposed to promise the kids anything they want and all, but... come on, he's three!

bah!
humbug!

(anyone got any tips on accident-proofing a skateboard?)

I've seen somewhere tiny skateboards you can "ride" with your fingers.....

hecAteAMillionMincePies · 06/12/2008 22:00

fryalot · 06/12/2008 22:00

can you not get thos skateboards aimed at teenys that come with handles (so they look like scooters to start with), and then revert to a skateboard????

or, get him a teeny one.....we got DS2 a teeny one at tht age, and he still loves it (he is now 6).

TipsyFairydifferentID · 06/12/2008 22:02

write a letter from Santa saying that his elves hadn't made enough this year, so he had to give them all to the older children and maybe when he was bigger he could have it instead.

NCRedBreastedBirdy · 06/12/2008 22:03

Tissy, they are called finger boards, you can buy stadiums for them and everything... could be a good solution!

psychohohohoho · 06/12/2008 22:04

like this

I know this is a girl one, but this is what I mean.

blametheparents · 06/12/2008 22:04

My DD (age 3) plans to ask Santa for lip gloss when she sees him as her mean old mummy won't buy her any cos she is only 3 fgs, and she looks entirely beautiful just the way she is. If some old bloke dressed up as FC promises she can have it I will be really p*ssed off.
So, YANBU (definitely)

fryalot · 06/12/2008 22:05

NINE POUNDS SEVENTY NINE?????? they were thirty quid in ToysRus!!!!!!

still says age 5 though

Dropdeadfred · 06/12/2008 22:05

why not?

tissy · 06/12/2008 22:05

you might get away with this

Nemostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 06/12/2008 22:06

or there are those skateboards that have a handle on so are sort of scooter skateboards.

psychohohohoho · 06/12/2008 22:06

teeny one

this is what we got DS2....it says 4=, but he sat on it for about a dayfor ages before getting confident to stand.

fryalot · 06/12/2008 22:07

psycho - that looks fab... I'm just popping to the argos website... back in a mo

psychohohohoho · 06/12/2008 22:08

I know your reluctance.....WE were with DS1.

believe me tho, once they get the bug, age makes no difference, and they can do better than you can ever imagine.

get him knee/elbow pads and a helmet and he will be well away

TheVirginGoober · 06/12/2008 22:12

Finger skateboard
You can also get the finger skateboard ramp.

fryalot · 06/12/2008 22:14

sorry father christmas, sorry, sorry, sorry.

I was forgetting that, as a magical being, you were all aware and omnipotent (or do I mean impotent? ) and know everything.

I was also forgetting that, as a magical being, you are part of the magic that is MUMSNET!

I have just bought him a Bart Simpson mini skateboard, with some Bart Simpson knee and elbow pads.
