hmmm I'm considering opening the archers. Decisions, decisions...

nickytwotimes · 06/12/2008 20:32

Go on, redcorn.
Keep me company on the festive beverage opening!

This is the earliest yet. I normally make it to Christmas eve, but we are about to stick our house on th emarket - ha, ha, ha - and have all been ill this week too.

Festive beverage opening - I like the sound of that!

NCRedBreastedBirdy · 06/12/2008 20:35

Why not, I have already finished started mine! I have to buy it earlier each year as I always drink it before Christmas. I have to leave plenty of time to drink the next bottle too replace it!

roundcornvirgin · 06/12/2008 20:36

yes there's a good reason why I get my xmas wine in at the last minute!

BouncingTinsel · 06/12/2008 20:38

I'm opened mine a month ago
Enjoy!

Actually tell a lie it's the fake Sainsbury stuff.

The real stuff (the Creme Caramel flavour) hasn't been opened yet!

apuppydaviesisforlife · 06/12/2008 20:38

lol we got 24 bottles of wine with our clubcard points, to see us through xmas and well into the new year, so we thought. dd2 has been a little sod all week and we've been in dire need of chemical relaxation. our cases of wine have turned into our advent calendar - opening a new bottle every night

random · 06/12/2008 20:38

I drank my xmas baileys last week

YANBU

thegirlwiththecurl · 06/12/2008 20:48

I drank my christmas baileys and have bought another bottle (which is now nearly finished) .

Bouncingtinsel - is the sainsbury's stuff any good? Is it worth giving it a try? Am willing to do so on a research basis, of course

ssd · 06/12/2008 20:50

I got a bottle for £7 from Tesco about a month ago, its long gone

NCRedBreastedBirdy · 06/12/2008 20:50

I get the Sainsburys stuff and it is good! (I force myself to get this and order 1 bottle of the real stuff in my Christmas food order so I can't drink it and I don't bankrupt myself )

nickytwotimes · 06/12/2008 20:53

Hoorah!
I feel utterly vindicated.
Pmsl at cases of wine being an advent calendar.

I don't know why I am worried - dh is on his second bottle of Christmas whisky.

roundcornvirgin · 06/12/2008 20:55

a wine advent calendar! What a brilliant idea and an advent calendar that would surely be approved of on mumsnet.

NCRedBreastedBirdy · 06/12/2008 21:04

Is it organic, fairtrade wine? Does it have nice pictures at the bottom of the bottles?

apuppydaviesisforlife · 06/12/2008 21:07

it has pretty labels on the bottles

VJayMerrilyOnHigh · 06/12/2008 21:08

I would open mine tonight, but ttc so i've not got any, but I opened my Christmas biscuits instead...I nearly started on my Christmas cake, and it's not even iced yet

lucycr2004 · 06/12/2008 21:19

me and dh "accidently" ate half a box of xmas Quality Street and half a box of Celebrations last night...the rest are staring at me now!!!...
feel vindicated though cos kept the QS wrappers for another crap craft project with my gorgeous 2 half yr old

LoveBeingAMummyKissingSanta · 06/12/2008 23:04

DH opened ours the other night go ahead

MrsSeanBean · 06/12/2008 23:08

YANBU. I bought a bottle half price a couple of weeks ago 'for Christmas' natch.

It's gone (no willpower)

MrsSeanBean · 06/12/2008 23:09

sorry x post with ssd, should have read the thread properly. Glad it's not just me anyway. {fgrin]

sadieandharrysmum · 06/12/2008 23:19

Just polished off the last of our case of christmas wine. Lasted just over a week between my dh and I. But oooh it was lovely. Should be available on prescription to all stressed and over worked parents. Who cares about your liver. After all it is the only organ able to rejuvinate ofter punishment. That is what January is for. after sales of course.

magentadreamer · 06/12/2008 23:21

Hic! Of course YABU to crack open the Baileys -you'd never catch me opening the Xmas Baileys it was my bestest friend who actually opened it when she came to see what xmas booze I had tonight hic!
