Completely prepared for you lot to criticise me, so here goes !!
Went to asda today to get photos printed and have a wander while waiting. DD1, 2.4yrs decided she wanted to walk, so since wasn't doing a shop conceded and put DD2, 3 mths in pram (normally both would be in trolley). Anyway, DD1 decided to try on some wellies (size 7 adlt !), DD2 then decided to start crying. DD1 wouldn't put her own shoes back on, so I couldn't pick up DD2 as had to carry DD1 (confusded yet ?). As I went round the corner of the aisle on my way back to car, a lady stopped me and said "haven't you got a dummy for her, she NEEDS a dummy" !! I was so shocked I couldn't think of any reply quick enough. I don't like dummies and DD2 certainly doesn't "NEED" one.

Would have loved to have told the interfering bag to go wherever, but also wonder if I could have handled it all differen tly.

Feel like a bit of a crap mummy really, bt am I being unreasonable ??

surprised that you allow a 2 year old to make decisions about what they willl and wont wear tbh

LOULOU525, where did you dig this thread up from. December 2008? Confused

YANBU, I can't believe the audacity of some people, you wouldn't criticise some random strangers hair/face/fashion sense in the ways us mums have to endure sometimes.

To add to the old lady dummy stories though, I was approached in a supermarket when DS1 was 6 weeks and who was howling his head off (done a pooey one and was waiting for the babychange). This old dear snootily said "a dummy would do him good", to which my dad came up behind me and gave her a 5 minute lecture on the problems with dummies!! She turned bright red and promptly apologised to me before turning to my dad and said "i'm sorry Dr DomesticDivasdad, i'll see you for our appointment next month" before scuutling away in shame haha! I was so proud of my dad, who's normally such a mild mannered man for sticking up for me and his dentistry/orthodontic skills came in handy too! Grin

DD1 has psoriasis and occasionally gets comments.
The reply is always :' I have a severe and instant reaction to very rude people!' She's fifteen and has been using it since she was twelve. Soon sends them red faced on their way.
:)

I remember DD2 (3 months at the time) litearlly screaming and screaming when we were at the airport in Tenerife, I had people coming up to me saying - you know there is an airport doctor....sometimes people should jsut mind their own business, she probably thought she was being helpful...

Well I realise this is an old thread but I don't really see what that matters . . .

Was walking home from school with 2yo walking and my just 4yo in the buggy. My 4yo gets very tired physically. Possibly health related, not really sure. Anyway 2yo really wanted to walk so it enabled 4yo to have a rest. Was passed in the street by a woman I had never seen before who looked me direct in the eye, tutted, shook her head and said "that is soooo wrong!"

A year later and it still pisses me off. I probably pass this woman on the school run everyday but at the time didn't know anyones faces and don't know who it was. Wish I knew so I could kick her a big kick everytime we passed, although realistically after the 2nd times she'd start avoiding me Grin

the people 'sharing' thier advice are probably the ones whose offspring are upright and outstanding citizens... probably... do you really think?

A few years ago I was in a supermarket with my DD and DD who were about 2 and 5. They were both pushing the trolley having fun until they let it go and it bumped into an old biddy well into the front of her trolley. Despite my apologies and making the kids say sorry she said "your children did that on purpose, children like that should have been strangled at birth" !!
