I don't think you are being unreasonable at all. Costa/starbucks prices are astronomical, and we only have them as an occasional treat.

Sit next to a picky toddler next time. There are rich pickings once they've vacated the table.

I'm assuming that you didn't buy then? Cheaper to make a whole cake yourself but they do need to cover wages, overheads, rent etc. Called a business.

When in Cyprus in October we had 3 regular coffes and 2 slices of cake and it came to 20 euros, we were dumbfounded. Everywhere we went he coffee was outrageously expensive.

MrsSeanBean · 06/12/2008 09:33

June2009 - that reminds me, think I once paid 8 euros for a coffee in Paris!

Tis not so bad if you consider it 'rent' for the swanky little table and chair to plonk down at and rest your weary lil legs.

LynetteScavo · 06/12/2008 09:41

MrsSeanBean - did you notice no one in Paris actually dirnks their coffee - they just sit there with it on the table while they chat/peopel watch.

MrsSeanBean · 06/12/2008 09:42

Good point LS. Tis on a cost per hour basis.

Slightly off topic, my DH and I once went into a fancy deli/cafe and DH ordered a pie to take away and she said "$6"and DH said, "no just one please". He politely declined and we left....

LynetteScavo · 06/12/2008 11:26

DH made us leave Hamleys yesterday when he saw the prices of the childrens meals.

He made us go to McD's where he could feed the entire family for £10 with free toys thrown in.
