OMG! Poor child! Not that I'm anywhere near being a perfect parent but people like this make me seethe (sp?).

Tidey · 05/12/2008 13:37

That's so mean! Poor wee thing. I would feel like shouting at the mum too. It would probably be unreasonable to actually do it though. You could have a quiet word about how upset the girl was though.

TheSeriousSanta · 05/12/2008 13:39

Personally, I'd take it with a pinch of salt.

I remember being a child and entering something similar - I was overjoyed with what I'd drawn, and I remember the winner being announced (honestly, it was shit not as good but happened to be a child of one of the 'in' families - I went to a very cliquey catholic school).

I was just gutted and wanted to get out.

I'm not saying that's what's happened here (or even that my original outburst was acceptable) but it didn't have anything to do with my mum...

The mum was probably joking, but kids have bizarre senses of humour and she probably thought she was serious.

God I hope so anyway

Lulumama · 05/12/2008 13:41

agree with santa. could well be a joke the child misinterpreted or a lie or any manner of other things.

MrsSeanBean · 05/12/2008 13:42

Aaargh - just lemme at the mum! very

ComeWhineWithMe · 05/12/2008 13:43

I would take it with a pinch of salt too.

The Mum has maybe said it as a joke or she was just gutted that she didn't win ,my dd once told her teacher I had said she couldn't have any dinner because she didn't eat her breakfast ,luckily she was told by reception that her older brother had paid at the office that morning and dd had forgot to mention it ,but she just panicked so told teacher some twaddle .

ComeWhineWithMe · 05/12/2008 13:44

Sorry should have said that teacher had asked DD where her dinner money was and when she couldn't find she said I didn't give her any !

Oh, dilemma, I am not saying I was reasonable

I was under 10years Old!! I have no idea whether my stuff was really better (with 20:20 hindsight ) I just was so upset with the one that won - my point was that it was MY reaction (not my mum)

I was probaly BU even then!
