to expect not to have to check my 3 month old daughter for nits?!

I mean, seriously, she is three months old. I have just picked out 4 of the horrible f**kers from her hair! I have just got the older DCs clear as well. I guess it isn't entirely suprising as I seem to be in a permanent cycle with them, but for some reason I didn't think that babies would get them. Why can't the horrible creatures leave her alone, at least until she has real hair?
How on earth do you get nit eggs out of baby hair?

shave her hair

im serious, it sounds awful but it is probably the best option, over chemical shampoo (suitable for so young) or trying to nit comb a tiny baby

its so cold that she will be in hats anyway and in a two weeks nobaody will realsie you did it as baby hair 'rubs off' and falls out when they are tiny

(suitable for so young?)

sorry

littleducks you might be right, but she has such lovely hair. I know it will all fall out eventually anyway but feel a bit about the idea of shaving it.
Definitely not going to use shampoo - I only conditioner and come the others anyway.

if you can see them easily, then you can get them between your nails and pull them out.

or shave it off i guess

I would smother her hair in olive oil, leave for a bit and comb gently - I am sure if there are eggs left you will be able to see them on baby hair?

ataraxis · 04/12/2008 12:25

Thanks for the suggestions. Will try them all and shaving as a last resort . I am so irrationally angry at the nits about this.

Johnson do a baby conditioner (pink bottle) which should help them all slide out.

So sorry your poor little baby has them - shame they dont have an age limit!
