To be annoyed with Sky So I sent this email to the owner GRRR

Dear Mr Murdoch

I am a new customer with Sky. On joining Sky TV I was advised that if my friend introduced me we would both receive £50 M&S Vouchers.

Sky referred me to Spectrum to get the installation done whom then gave me the number 08702412939 to do introduce a friend, Both me and my friend called this number and registered our details and was told that we would then receive the vouchers within 20 days.

I have still not received the Vouchers after 6 weeks I called Sky customer service who told me there was no details on my account and gave me another number to call so after holding for a further ten minutes I got through to someone else who then said I had to call 08448222010 So I called them after about fifteen minutes I got through to one of your rep's who was very abrupt and rude to me, she then stated that I was not entitled to the vouchers and there was nothing she could do as Spectrum did the installation. The was no apology and when I asked the rep why I was told that my vouchers would be with me and my friend within 20 days all she could say is never said that and its not her problem. I also asked how come after nearly being on the phone for an hour to Sky and speaking previously with other rep's none of them had mentioned this to me.

I feel the customer service I have received is appalling not one person could apologise for there mistakes. I am also very displeased with the false advertisement from Sky stating introduce a friend and your receive £50 M&S nothing on the offer states that if you get your installation done by Spectrum you are not entitled to benefit from this.

I look forward to your response before I take this up with trading standards as I know I am not the only person that has been misled by Sky. All you have to do is Google Sky M&S vouchers and forum after forum comes up with what a con it is.

I am sure that you yourself would not be happy with the service that's being provided by your employees to your customers.

Email kinda explains why I was annoyed

I am not surprised - they have crap customer service, always have. They are rude, unhelpful and their teams do not register information to the accounts, so you call back and they have no record of your previous long-convoluted problem and you have to do it all over again.

If my dh was not addicted to the rugby, I would cancel Sky but there would be a revolt at home.

ditheringdora · 02/12/2008 11:23

Make it shorter but how annoying! I wouldn't send it to Rupert either look up the Which website - it gives you the steps to take when making a complaint, which I've found really useful. good luck tho'

pingping · 02/12/2008 11:28

Spamm TBH after today I would love to cancel my Sky but in a 12mth contract.

Ditheringdora Why not send it to Rupert I have his email address when I wanted to complain through Sky the rude lady said that I had to complain to her GRRR

I have Sky. they are appaling quite frankly. they doisgusted me. I hate having to contact them and I loathe the fact there is no alternative

Foul organisation who know they've got you so can treat you as badly as they like

pingping · 02/12/2008 11:39

I agree MascaraOHara

Do you think that the owners of Sky realise how appaling the customer service is?

Even on installation The engineers never validated my viewing card so it took hours for me to sort it out

OP posts:
Hulan · 02/12/2008 11:41

pingping · 02/12/2008 11:42

MascaraOHara · 02/12/2008 11:47

when they installed mine.. the prvious owner had had sky.. they didn't change the dish.. it fucked me right off.. I paid for a dish.. if they weren't giving me a dish they hould've knocked the cost of teh dish off the installation.

god I hate everything about them

no cable where I live and can only get about 4 channels through a digibox

I have PMT today admittedly but all of the numbers are high cost and they keep you on hold for 20mins at least.. they are just a money making machine.

the owners don't care

pingping · 02/12/2008 11:49

Really that is very shit service I wish I had stayed with Virgin Media now.

Thats the problem the numbers are very expensive to call and when you do you have to press a millon different buttons to get through to someone and then your put on hold.

EightiesChick · 02/12/2008 11:54

They were awful when doing our installation too and customer services were crap, plus needing you hold the line for an hour at a time to even speak to someone. I agree, they make no effort because they know they've got you over a barrel. I am Sky+ dependent or I would love to cancel. Yes, complain.

frostyfingers · 02/12/2008 12:04

Tell them you will write to a newspaper - The Sunday Times have a "troubleshooter" page I think, most of them probably do. Quite often the threat of this makes them suddenly become very amenable - and if they don't respond make sure you do write.

MommyHasaHeadache · 02/12/2008 12:17

We've also been duped by the £50 refer a freind scheme. Agree with all that say Sky's customer service is pants. They really are awful.

I hope you get a response - let us know if you do.

pingping · 02/12/2008 13:20

Well I sent it to Mr Murdoch still no responce but also sent a complaint to the refer a friend and will take it further if needs be. Maybe Watchdog or something.

BouncingTinsel · 02/12/2008 13:30

Sorry but I cannot understand why anyone would subscribe to Sky, you are paying to watch adverts!

Good luck with your complaint, Pingping.

ditheringdora · 02/12/2008 13:36

well, pingping, it's a running joke in our family that you don't write to the top person. Mum had bought a very expensive cream years ago in the eighties and she felt it was rubbish. We said to her to complain. Dearest Mam had written "Dear Elizabeth " (Arden), poor woman, we won't let her forget it! (I think Eliz was already dead also)

pingping · 02/12/2008 15:14

I have got his email address so I am hoping he will recieve the email.

TinkerBellesMum · 03/12/2008 01:19

Good on you! Let us know how you get on.

I got Virgin as we live in flats (we now have a communal arial point for Sky) and was a bit disappointed at first because it was right after the fall out. I'm happier now as I only pay £30 and I've got BB which would cost £25 normally and Talk Unlimited which is also normally £25. I feel the TV is more than free and they've just got Sky back.

MadMarg · 03/12/2008 09:09

I certainly don't want to pay for TV, but I don't have freeview and get rubbish reception for the normal channels.

So I got one of those 'pay once, watch forever' packages. It's their free sat service with 4 complimentary months of 4 entertainment packages. I have to make sure that we cancel the package after 3 months otherwise we will have to pay for it. Must remember to keep a note of who I speak with and for how long to make sure they dont' 'miss' my phone call!!!!

pingping · 03/12/2008 09:31

Well I have not heard nothing still and emailed the complaint to various different people at Sky my friend also emailed them complaining.

Hopefully it will be sorted out because I see they are still advertising that you get £50 worth of M&S vouchers.

A good website for finding cheap numbers for places like sky is www.saynoto0870.com - i use it for every company - i get hundreds of minutes for free on my mobile so can complain to my hearts content when and if needed - worthwhile knowing espec if you have to make repeated calls.

PingpingsatonSantasface · 05/12/2008 16:33

Thanks rodg82.

I heard from Sky today who are looking into my complaint Mr Murdoch passed the complaint on to customer relations so fingers crossed it will be dealt with.

PingpingsatonSantasface · 08/12/2008 11:42

Hey all

So over the weekend Sky called my friend and offered us £60 each off our next sky bill as a goodwill gesture.

Today however the person dealing with me has sent out our vouchers.

People the only way to complain is to email the boss himself.

So in total we both are getting £50 M&S vouchers and £60 off are Sky bill TOOT TOOT.
