Went to Tesco today to buy a phone for DD for christmas. They have an offer £25 off if you spend over £50 instore.
We found the phone and on the box it said "take to any till"
We did our shopping and spent more than enough on groceries etc.
The phone went through the till last and the young lad asked if there was an offer on the phone and we said yes.
We paid for everything and found that there was no discount had been taken on the phone. Lad said we had to take it to customer services.

The store was now past closing time. Customer services took me to the "Digital Store" where she explained to the lady there that she couldn't deal with me as she was about to throw up
I was then taken to the "Phone Store"
where they rambled on about that the tills don't know about the discount and we should have bought it to them. They couldn't put the discount through now because of the tills had now been closed and we have to go back tomorrow.

Realised afterwards that I couldn't have taken it to the "phone store" because they don't have the facilities in the phone store to put through a basket full of groceries.

I have been trying to find out their latest mispricing policy. The latest one I can find is double your money back , is this correct?

I don't drive and DS works long hours during the week, so it is going to be a big inconvenience to go back to get the refund.

I thought it was that if something went through the till wrongly they would give you your money back and let you keep the item. Not completely certain though.

Money savig expert site will have latest policy I'm sure. I think it's DTD back but check there.

Thanks, I have looked on Moneysavingexpert. I actually meant double the difference not double your money

found this
I was not charged the price that was advertised and that was on the shelf label which was 54.75 not 79.75 therefore I was mischarged
4 people couldn't help me out and if we hadn't checked the receipt there and then we wouldn't have known. DH will have to go back tomorrow when he really doesn't have time for it.

Tesco's current mispricing policy is that they'll refund double the difference if you've been overcharged.

IME they are appalling at doing this. I check every receipt and now make a point of noting any "offers" I pick up as they so often don't actually go through at the till ..... I'd say about 1 in every 7 receipts is wrong.

I always get the overcharge back (x 2) but the attitude of the customer service people is usually really snotty. They snatch take the item in question and stomp off to look at the shelf, then come back and do the transaction but very rarely manage an apology, even though by now you've wasted 10 or 15 minutes of your time. Beware that they also often leave out of date offers on the shelf so return triumphantly declaring "this ran out yesterday madam" ..... to which I always argue that customers should not have to crawl about on their hands and knees reading the tiny small print on price labels - let's face it, most of us are "invited to buy" by what it says in pounds and pence and should be able to trust that the price on display is correct. Oh yes - they love me.

Good luck in sorting this out.
