AIBU, to think people who block junctions, just don't think?

There roadworks outside the school and temporary traffic lights just beyond the junction.
The road is single file as the traffic is so dangerous and it is there to protect the workers which is very good.
But it is getting really difficult to get into the school as traffic just stops right accross the entrance at all times of the day.
The school is on a crossroads so it means that if you are on the main road and want to turn right two lots of traffic are held up.
If you are going straight on you can't go anywhere and the ONLY way to get into the school is to drive two miles! the other way as there are no other junctions or safe places to turn!
All because some people just don't leave a gap, they even block in people waiting to pull out of the school.
Would IBU to beep them?

do you mean the people in the trafic don't leave a gap, or people who are parked?

potoftea · 28/11/2008 16:10

If you beep them they'll most likely look at you as if you are very odd.
They probably don't even see the whole picture.

My dh is like this, it's as if he is concentrating on the road and his bit of it, and doesn't see how if he just left a gap others could turn or whatever, without any difficulty to him. Drives me mad when I'm with him, but it's totally unintentional.

Its people in the traffic that don't leave a gap. And as i said you can't wait for them to move as everyone backs up behind you so you have to keep moving.
It must be like that for people who live near traffic lights, they can never get into their street or driveway.
I was always taught to leave a gap by a junction, don't they teach that anymore?

The worst is when the junction is yellow boxed and you STILL get blanks who block it!

2shoes · 28/11/2008 17:18

so do you mean you are trying to turn into the school, but the flow of traffic blocks you, surely in that case you idicate and wait

thenewme · 28/11/2008 17:20

We have a yellow box at the end of our road supposedly to give us a chance to get out of the village as the lights aren't set to give us a chance. No one ever lets us out. Even if you beep them. Next year we are getting traffic lights so they will have to stop!

Ripeberry · 29/11/2008 17:53

2shoes, yes normally i would do that, but then what do you do with the people who are behind you? The whole road becomes gridlocked!
I just hope they finish by the end of next week! Why can't they do these things when it was half-term?
