To still want to go out for a few drinks when

DS (3½) has got a rotten earache, has been asleep all afternoon and the babysitter will deal with him if he wakes up? Or should I stay in?

I can't decide whether I'm being really selfish in still wanting to go out when DS isn't well but he's not worringly ill but he'll still want his mum or dad if he wakes up.

The drinks are with friends and DH - it's taken us ages to get a date in the diary to hook up. That's why it's a quandary.

Tough one. How far from home are you going?
Could you not get ds to bed, go out and if he gets really bad just come home early?

We're going local. I could be home in 15 mins max.

I'd still go then. It's sod's law that you'd stay in and ds wouldn't even wake.
Then again, are you capable of switching off for a bit and trying to enjoy yourself or will you be constantly worried?
