AIBU to want to slap my work colleague

I so annoyed at her. I have soup for my lunch pretty much everyday. It's vegetable so not horrid smelling, but every time I heat it up she complains about the f*cking smell. It does my head in. I like her in every other respects except this.

It makes me feel really small when she does it and I can't eat bread. She has some sort for food complex too.

So AIBU to want to slap her when this happens?

NNNOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Not more violence in thread titles!

NorthernLurker · 25/11/2008 12:25

sure go ahead and slap her. You'll be dismissed and then can eat your soup at home in peace

captainmummy · 25/11/2008 12:26

I think it's pretty tame actually. There was one recently AIBU to want to kick (someone) in the head. Oh and that one AIBU to want to kill/maim (someone) for taking too long getting out of a parking space.

Oh BTW yes I do think UABU.

{hmm}

oiwhatsoccurring · 25/11/2008 12:29

God I was just getting frustrations out. Not actually going to slap her. At one time this wan't taken so literally

jumpingbeans · 25/11/2008 12:29

Bloody hell, you would not last long in our office if that winds you up.

captainmummy · 25/11/2008 12:34

Problem with not being taken literally is that we can only read what you write, not what you mean.

This is the 3rd violent thread this morning.

tjacksonpfc · 25/11/2008 12:35

careful oiwahts it seems liek we have got to be pc in everything on here and not actually say how we feel anymore as it can cause offence what has happened to mh all of a sudden its gone far to serious?

oiwhatsoccurring · 25/11/2008 12:36

Well looks like a lot of pissed off people then. There is a lot of stresses at the mo so one little think can make people boil over. I really didn't think people would have thought I was literal. Like wise if I saw it from someone else.

OP posts:
notnowbernard · 25/11/2008 12:37

It's not about being PC it's about being adult

Go and get yourself down the boozer and spill your guts over half a dozen pints if you want to rant about kicking and slapping

laweaselmys · 25/11/2008 12:39

There is a lot of violent stuff being posted today. I realise that you were not being literal, but unfortunately it was just bad timing.

yanbu to find it annoying, you would obviously bu to slap her. I'm sure you know this.

fizzbuzz · 25/11/2008 12:49

Complain back about her fecking complaining. Or complain very loudly about what she eats, even if you eat it too, that will really wind her up

AccioPintoGrigio · 25/11/2008 12:55

Ignore, ignore, ignore some more. YANBU. Unless it is egg and tuna soup.

tjacksonpfc · 25/11/2008 12:58

maybe you should bring her some in oi and give to her to really wind her up and say you thought as she commented about ti so much you thought she wanted some lol

fircone · 25/11/2008 12:59

YABU. I hate smelly food in offices. Go and sit in the park (or car park).

I bet your colleague dreads every lunchtime. It gets to about 11.30am and she knows your flask of pungent soup is going to put in an appearance soon. Probably accompanied by slurping.

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 25/11/2008 13:01

YANBU- hate people commenting on food at work.
Used to eat healthy salads for ages and I'd get comments EVERY SINGLE day from people larger than myself that I was "ooh too healthy" or "need to have some cake".

Fully support slapping even if it is a bit contraversial!

more · 25/11/2008 13:03

If you are eating it at your desk, then YABU.
If however you are eating it at a designated eating area then YANBU.

oiwhatsoccurring · 25/11/2008 13:04

Fircone - I am not the only person that eats hot food in the office and the boys in my office have horrid smelling food but she never complains about that.

Some of us don't have the choice to take time off to go sit in a park

OP posts:
PinkChick · 25/11/2008 13:04

id just say to her "OFGS, cahnge the record, i know you dont like the smell, but im not stopping eating it so stop complaining"..if you et along well normally she should take this as intended and be ok?

girlandboy · 25/11/2008 13:05

Someone where I work heats up curry every day.

The smell permeates through the whole library!

oiwhatsoccurring · 25/11/2008 13:05

I have to eat at my desk as I can't take a lunch break. I have to work through as I have to get my baby when I finish. Its very rare anyone will take a lunch break in my office.

OP posts:
jumpingbeans · 25/11/2008 13:06

pinkchick, thats what I would say too.

cheeset · 25/11/2008 13:06

I never thought I'd hear myself say this but 'isn't there alot of violence on mnet?'

Now where's Soupdragon?....

VinegarTits · 25/11/2008 13:11

I had left over chilli for my lunch, the whole office smelt lovely mmmm

'YABU. I hate smelly food in offices. Go and sit in the park (or car park).'

They dont have microwaves in the park to warm up my chilli, and its freezing outside so erm, no thanks.

compo · 25/11/2008 13:12

why don't you take it in a flask so you don't have to heat it up
