Another P&T space rant...

Ok so not really an AIBU but a classic..

Small local supermarket, disabled and P&T spaces out the front - no one really takes any notice of either but hey ho. Needed to pick up ds's prescription for chest infection - only space left was teeny tiny so had to take him out over front seat.

Walks towarsds store, woman in early 50's goes towards her car in P&T space. Normally I couldnt be arsed but had a shitty day so I asked her if there was any need for her to park in that space..

Her response " well it was empty when I got here so I thought nobody would need it" Like duh of course it was empty - else you wouldnt have been able to get your car in there...

Followed by, once I told her I had to drag ds over the seats and across a busy road "well there are plenty spaces there for you" indicated to the disabled... words fail me

I was going to type a post........but words really did fail me

Was in Bath on a holiday, and went to Morrisons, they actually had an attendant stopping people from parking in the Parent & child bays. My DH and I pulled into one, and I was giving DS a bottle, so DH went out and I was going to join him after DS finished the bottle. The attendant came up to him and told that he should park elsewhere! (Until DH pointed out that we were in the car ). I wish other supermarkets would have that.

Before I had LO I took no notice of the P&T spaces at all, now I occasionally check out the P&T spaces to find out I appear to be the only person in Aldershot who didn't use the P&T spaces anyway.

theSuburbanDryad · 24/11/2008 18:16

Words would have failed me too, geordie.

I genuinely don't know what I would have said in those circumstances.

Which is unusual, for me.

hollyhobbie · 24/11/2008 18:23

I thought this was going to be a Phil&Teds thread

I'm with 2Shoes on this. I blocked AIBU for a while because it was doing my head, but here I am again.

Like a crackhead.

Wink
chequersandchess · 24/11/2008 18:33

I don't care about them.

I did get cross at the woman who beeped me to hurry up when a car reversed out in front of me at the supermarket then parked in one without any kids.

I even looked in my bag for a pen to leave a rude note on her car

But that was really only because I was annoyed about the beeping.

Then I came to my sense and realised it was all totally unimportant anyway.

mousemole · 24/11/2008 18:33

Uh oh, here we go.... As a poster of the worlds longest running P and T thread a few weeks ago, I am happy to join onepieceoflollipop's ny resolution.Good on you Geordie for having a pop !

SoupDragon · 24/11/2008 18:34

the only reason it p*sses me off is the way it shows a general disregard for "rules" and general manners. It's not just P&T spaces, it's noticeable everywhere.

Tidey · 24/11/2008 18:34

I know there are a lot of threads started on this subject, but it really can be infuriating to see people using these spaces when they have no need to. I'm currently a silent glarer but I may step up to being a note-on-windscreen writer if I see any more people in sports cars who want the extra room so no-one hits their car doors

mousemole · 24/11/2008 18:45

excatly soupdragon - the flagrant flouncing of rules and guidelines is what gets me. Tidey, I can really recommend an upgrade to full face to face confrontation. Excellent for release of anger from P and T space abusers !

ilovemydog · 24/11/2008 18:46

I have a 2 year old and a 9 month old.

P & T filled up. We parked somewhere so far away I couldn't find the car later.

Woman in her 60s parked in P &T and walking with man in 30s....

I glared at her, and she said, 'but he's my baby...

It was so funny. I laughed, she laughed and thought how ridiculous the whole thing was....

geordieminx · 24/11/2008 18:50

No more P&T threads from me either. Just thought it was funny
